I was in a rough place. I wish I could have this call back. It was recorded 3 or 4 weeks ago. And I didn't get scheduled for about 3 weeks after I submitted my question. My marriage had essentially officially ended the night before. I wish I could call right now, I'd be a lot more available emotionally and mentally. That was not my normal operating self. I love Dr. John and I was hoping for a serious yet lighthearted conversation that he's so good for. Live and learn!

One what kelly said is 💯 ❤ Two: I am so glad someone put some light on breastfeeding and weight gain!! Everyone usually says the opposite, "oh breastfeeding makes you lose all the baby weight" I have had 4 pregnancies, one full term loss and with the other 3 after breastfeeding I would be the same weight leaving the hospital prepregnancy. But then gain it all back by the time maternity leave was over. So thank you for shining light on it. Thank John for all you and the gang do.

There's NO EXCUSE for this selfish parenting crap. You don't lean on your kids. THEY lean on YOU! And I don't care what you've been through either. You DON'T take it out on your kids! You suck it up and care for your kid and love them by NOT abusing them. Work out your crap when they go to bed. To Ashley - my heart breaks for you. Your mom is SO toxic. Grieve the loss and don't look back. She will steal the rest of your life and you'll wake up without a life of your own.

Oh my I connected so much to the mother dynamic. My mother was also in several abusive marriages. She never put it on me in that direct of a way but her mental health really suffered because of it and that was always on us. The past 20 years has been about her and her mental health. I’ve been taking care of her emotionally for years and never felt good enough for her in many ways. When I became an adult she resented so many of my choices and finally last year she started to really impact me seeing not only how she was treating me but other family members. I just finally had enough and did a temporary break which later turned into a permanent one because of her actions that showed me that she wasn’t learning from the break how to treat me better. She was just gaining more to use against me later. Now it’s been over a year since I’ve talked to her and some days it is all good and I have no regrets. Other days I feel sad and still feel a grief feeling about it. Today was one of those days and because of that the title caught my eye. So glad I watched this video. Although not 100% my story I saw a lot of parallels in that mother daughter dynamic that are similar to my own. I think I have really been putting a lot of this on me since I made the decision to walk away. But I think she made the choice a long time ago by not knowing and not learning how to be a good parent. I know she has a lot of issues and has experienced a lot in her life, but I feel like she uses that as a crutch to not change her behavior towards others including her children. Anyway, long story short this story made me really feel more positive about my decision today. Thank you Dr. John.

I feel this pain. I use the nexplanon implant for birth control for almost2 years. I gained over 70 pounds and I have never been a big lady 😞. I topped off at 210 when I had never been more than 140 of muscle. Ever. I took out the implant and lost 30 pounds immediately. Had to really work to lose the rest. Now I have my body back and I’m pregnant again. I am much better and pregnant at 6 months I only weigh 160. This is my normal. But when I was heavy I felt so very unattractive and sad. Keep it up girl!!!!!! Your amazing!!!!

I lost 50 lbs in 6 months when i started following Dr. Berg. Cut out carbs and you will melt away. Im 51 and feel the same way as the caller. At least she is dedicated to making change at a younger age and can reach goals easier than someone my age. I dont keep any carbs in my house because i have no will power. Luckily i have implemented a low carb diet and have kept weight off but still have about 80lbs to go to be where i want to be so i hate my body. I just started weight training and i hope that will work.

Ashley. Remember that the guilt you feel was programmed into you by your mom. It’s not entirely real, it’s residue from being your mom’s child. You think it’s what you’re feeling as an adult but it’s really just how “normal” your mom’s control feels now because it’s how it’s always been. Best to you.

No way my child would be singing TS songs! My child would be a metalhead like her/his mama! 😎🤘🔥👊🔥😜😂😅 Folks who struggle with weight issues are either uneducated about the value of macros and some just want to be in denial. Losing weight is not just about exercising and knowing how to eat the right macros. You can’t eat tons of junk food or even excess of “healthy” foods and expect to not gain weight, and then get upset for gaining weight? Again, folks need to focus on their mental health and therapy so they learn how to accept their challenges/shortcomings and overcome them, hence the addiction of emotional eating. Also, some folks think that popping children will fill the hole caused by childhood trauma, and finally feel love or save their marriages. Those are not good reasons to ever have children. In addition, a lot of people glorify pregnancy and motherhood, when in reality they are extremely challenging and not everyone was born to be a parent. People take pregnancy and parenthood way too lightly.
