I think the reason why we love Julie is because she is both ordinary and extraordinary in the same instant. There is nothing about her that is apparently different from you or me, and yet she is so brilliant. We can relate to her, despite how far above us she is. I don't know how she achieves this magical dichotomy, but she does, and thank goodness for it.
@deviwolf33652 жыл бұрын
She never took herself too seriously. She never thought she was better than other people, just incredibly lucky to have the talent and the opportunities she had - and I'm not sure she ever realized quite how special her talent was. Can you imagine how much more ordinary The Sound of Music would have been without her phenomenal voice and her nuanced acting? I shudder at the thought.

@@deviwolf3365It took me a long time after discovering Mary Poppins to sit down and watch the Sound of Music. I prefer the former over the latter. Nonetheless, I discovered the Sound of Music in my early teens. And I had to watch it just for Julie! It was one of few movies that encouraged me to see live theatre

Like most generations, I’ve been a fan of Julie since watching Mary Poppins at age 4. It was perhaps my first live action movie musical! My other favorites of her roles are Queen Lillian and Cinderella! The Sound of Music is semi holiday viewing tradition for me. Beautiful words spoken by Anne and Mr. Van Dyke. May the Spoonful of Sugar live on forever!

Of course for your kindness and also for just being a governess in one of my favorite movie musicals sound of music. I would love to have mary poppins babysit my kids, when it's time. One day not too far off, we will lose her, as we must all such greats. When we do, she will have acquired such accolades, such honors from her 'peers' in all sorts of media and disciplines that she will be close to peerless in recognition of her achievements. We can take solace that at least.

I live Juliet Andrews, I was her avid fan since my childhood and now I am a sixty eight, I never stopped viewing her you tube interviews, flashbacks of her movies, stage plays and many more. She's so a versatile actress, thus I could say, gifted, talented, a brilliant woman. They are really a perfect match with Christopher Plummer. How nice if they ended as couple.
