Just a sidenote since I work at tech support in my local ISP.. after following these great instructions on how to get Nat Type 1.. if you do all these steps and still have Nat Type 3 you have to call your tech support of your ISP and you can request disabling private IP adress or turning the CGNat off. After that you can check your Nat Type and if It's type 2 then you are good to go with these instructions in order to get type 1.

NAT TYPE 2 is still the recommended configuration for you to have best of both worlds, security and bandwidth latency. If you do not know the acronym of NAT type, your should probably research more and educate yourself on the implication of opening your device to a public address.

Some Routers lacks settings that do not offer NAT switching options. And it may take forever for your internet provider to make the adjustments (over the phone for me). Also you can find a simpler form of your PS4 information in System> System Information.

I've heard other people having this issue too. Worst case if you can't get the settings to budge to NAT Type 1 is to contact your ISP and ask them how to open the NAT for your PlayStation

If you're on a hotspot change you're mobile network from LTE to 4g or 3g it will change you're hotspot nat from 3 to 2

Ive been trying for a few years, watched countless videos and read many articles, tried all their suggestions, bought a new router, tried all the setting on that, still nat type 3. My brother did this and 3 months later got hacked and all his banking was corrupted since most people have their bank card on ps4 to buy games, they also took all his games to. Can you login to your router from a web browser like I did in this video? Then you should be able to find the IP or MAC address of your PS4 under the connected devices list within your router settings. You should be able to open the NAT by selecting that specific device by editing its permissions while it's connected to your router.

Theres 3 types Open, Moderate and Strict. Strict players can only play with Open, Open can play with everyone no matter what their NAT type is and Moderate can play with moderate and open but you may have troubles connecting to other people

For a gaming application like the PlayStation it won't make a difference. I have never experienced any issues, nor observed anyone else ever having issues, as a result of having an Open NAT (Type 1) on the PSN.

This is a really good question: as far as I know, in order to allow the PlayStation to go into NAT 1 through your router is to log in (via IP address in a browser) or if there’s an application that allows you to change router settings through a mobile device. I haven’t found a way to get NAT 1 by adjusting settings directly from the PlayStation yet

NAT type changes how open your connection is to the PSN. A more open connection allows you to find more users, and therefore a more optimal match, to join so that matchmaking yields the lowest ping and lag.

I like your videos but I don't think nat type 1 is safe. Its a lot easier to be hacked on ps4 if you bypass the firewall. So I wouldn't recommend leaving these settings on for extended periods of time. You can always set a static ip for your consol and open specific ports for the game you're playing. Overall I really like your channel! Its straightforward informative content and you're doing an awesome job 😀
