We will never see the likes of this talented man again. Sammy, Frank and Dean were uncomparable entertainers, each in their own right. Thank God I was able to witness their genius.

Oh I do so wish he was still here. He is magnificence personified. He could show the mediocrity of today how it's REALLY done. However I feel that the way the world is going today he would be more than a little disappointed. So much of what he achieved seems to be going backwards. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is great! Sammy's voice is noticably rougher than it was in his prime - still, it's good. I think Arsenio got the last shot, roughly a year or so later.

I can't tell which was Sammy's last talk show appearance. He did Johnny, Arsenio, and Letterman in the same 2 week period in June 1989. I recorded them each on different tapes, not realizing which one was last might be important someday. I do know Sammy's last televised singing performance was on the Jerry Lewis Telethon in September of 1989. Sammy publicly confirmed the cancer a couple of days after that.

Do you happen to have the appearance where he did "Mr. Bojangles" especially for Johnny? The best version that I've ever heard. I think it was around 1976.

I do. It was in May, 1978. The problem is the Carson Estate put a 30 minute version of that out on DVD (check Amazon or Ebay). Since that is for sale I believe it would be a copyright strike. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
