Ive been around and trained with many pro mma fighters. Many UFC fighters. At a smoker one time where a team mate was fighting I sat at a table with Charles Bennett. Dude was terrifying. Most fighters are pretty chill. He always seemed about 5 seconds from going off and starting a brawl..

Bones in the hand are very easily breakable, especially with bone on bone contact where your swinging big power shots. Once you break your hand its very easy to break again.

There have been several competitors in all genre of fighting who broke a hand or arm or ankle and still fought on and won. Is it a way out? Yes. Can you still fight with a broken hand or arm, you bet your nuts you can. Chuck Liddell fought with a broken arm and won...if memory serves me.

Man.... Charles got the short end of the stick. Other dude head butts him, rakes his left eye, maybe both..... RIGHT before the big punch..... and then is proud....? Pfft. Crazy Horse/Felony was tough in this fight. At one point, you see him look at his hand, and grimace with pain.... then threw it rarely afterwards..... thats just legendary. True spirit. Genuine warrior.
