I want to cry watching this performance now - it was 1978 I was still a schoolboy I watched Sha-Na-Na in the Grease movie - and this is the song that 70s era that I grew up with fond memories. Excuse me just give me a second to wipe off my tears.

Yes he can ! That was an amazing night .. Johnny had dinner the night before with me and my friends in Asbury Park . The next night was the taping for PBS... I was with him hanging out until it was his turn to perform... he had to sing it 3 times in a row .. the first time the camera crew screwed something up , the. 2nd time the bass player blew the ending of the song and then the 3rd time was the clip posted here .. Johnny knocked it out of the park all 3 times ! He is still absolutely amazing

The four who sang backup are a the Modern Gentlemen , they also sing backup with Frankie Valli .. The other guy Asa , had performed earlier on the show , doing the same song . It was a PBS DOO WOP show

Unbelievable. I saw Greece the first day it was released in the theater and remember this song in the movie.
