When the first PoTC movie came out, Johnny Depp actually visited the area multiple times in full costume. Disney even built tunnels through the ride so the real Johnny Depp could take the place of his animatronic clones in the ride, and greet guests as they passed by. Two of his favorite spots were the throne room at the end of the ride, and near the barrel the animatronic pops out of in the pirate town. Imagine going through the ride and thinking, “Capn’ Jack looks a little more real today…”
