Thank you for the comment Jeanette. Johnny Hates Jazz is a great and criminally under-rated band. This was a great night. Fortunately, for our radio listeners (we are an online radio station that broadcasts globally), we feature a lot of music by Johnny Hates Jazz (both old and new) on our daily playlists.

I was there :) I was a great concert, I think one of the reasons the crowd was quite tame was that a lot of the people were getting on a bit. My wife thought we were some of the younger people there being early 40s. I was 11 when Shattered Dreams was a smash. We had seats in the B block but ended sitting somewhere else were we had more leg room and a good view.

Thank you so much for the comment! Based on the audience poll that Clark Datchler, it looks like there were folks in their 20s there. So much for me thinking I was going to be the youngest at 36!!! I also ended up on the B lock 2nd row (very little leg room there). Where did you end up moving to?

I am 42 it was a birthday treat from my wife so you are a little younger than I, I think my mum would have enjoyed it as we played the tape in the car a lot when we were kids and she liked them. I had seats in B block row K or something but ended up sitting at the front of the block behind with lots of leg room, as I am tall it was much better for me. I thought it was funny when Clark was talking about a 30th anniversary release of TBTC and a lady shouted out take my money :)

What a great birthday treat!!! Good decision on moving seats since leg space was limited in row B. I loved Clark's response to that lady when he said "not yet" in response to that lady shouting "take my money". I completely forgot about that part of the evening until you reminded me.

Hey Tasha..thanks so much for the comment..if you were behind me, I hope I was not too obnoxious with all the yelling and standing up! We have published a review of the concert on our site (google "radio creme brulee") and it should be the first article on the site. I hope we have done justice to the show. You can be the judge of that! Thank you once again for the comment.

Radio Creme Brulee it's perfectly fine I have been to more out there gig's in my time, TBH this was a very tame crowd which i was surprised about but then again I go to rock gig's and everyone on there feet from the word go and going mental haha

I thought I was the only one thinking the crowd was tame..the idea of sitting while listening to a jam like "Don't say it's love" was excruciatingly painful. I did not want to be the crazy one to stand while others were not so I exercised self restraint - and that was NOT easy! I was going mental internally..does that count?

Radio Creme Brulee don't say it's love is my fave song of there's and not being able to dance sadden me :( haha yes it does count as I was doing that. I think I was annoying the couple next to me because I was dancing and singing in my sit and then recording with my limited battery on my phone or else I would got more recording

Radio Creme Brulee I do admit level 42 crowd put jhj crowd to shame .. Literally from the word go everyone dancing singing with Mark and the guys bar the older fans who hate there new stuff which I like also but again same thing happened when I saw Duran Duran live the second time in London 02 the crowd where I was were boring and there was me literally up standing having the time of my life

Clark is a fantastic performer - in addition to a great voice, he demonstrates a great blend of humor, charisma, and swagger!

Great crowd interaction from Clark I must say, he was very generous with the crowd and I believe genuinely enjoys performing and engaging with the crowd. Would have been nice to have a few words from Mike. I thought the support band was good before but the crowd could have given them a bit more support.

Clark is a charismatic performer for sure. I had the privilege of interacting with Mike both before and after the show. He is super interesting and brings a whole different perspective to the table. We've mentioned this in the gig review on our site. Have you read it yet? It might shed some light on the difference in personalities between the two. Indigo Rose (the support band) was good but I think being the opening act is tough. The opening act is dealing with an audience whose tastes are probably fully formed and aren't necessarily looking to discover something new at this point. To them, this was undoubtedly a huge opportunity and I think they rose to the occasion and played with zest and enthusiasm. But it is tough to be an opening act - especially for a new act that is not established.

Hi thanks for responding, I haven't read the review on your site, can you provide a link so I can. I would like to have said hello to Clark and Mike, I have been a long term fan of them since I was 11 in 1987 and Shattered Dreams was released and have followed them since. Any ideas why Calvin is completely off the scene as he originally reformed JHJ with Mike before Clark's return? It was interesting to hear Clark talk about the Road not taken, I had assumed it was about his departure from the band at their peak and what could have been.

Sure thing..here is a link to the review: goo.gl/7KAoNP. I did ask the question about Calvin when I interviewed Mike and Clark while they were recording Magnetized in 2011. At the time, Calvin was interested in working on another project - a book on his dad Mickie Most and I think he may have moved to America while he was working on that. Hence, he chose to bow out gracefully from Johnny Hates Jazz. I think in many ways, "Road Not Taken" is a reflection of the choice he made back in the late 80s and reconciling with that decision.
