Johnny was big pop star in the sixties. He's also a great blues player . Every song on his later blues albums are really good. "House of Blues" and "Joker in The Wind" are fabulous songs.

I just sang Johnny Rivers' song, "Summer Rain" last night in karaoke. We have been having a very rainy spring and summer here with lots of flooding, some of which I witnessed the day before so the song seemed appropriate. It's also one of my favorites from Johnny.

I recently heard a young person say that they envied those who grew up in the 60's and 70's. They said, "You danced like no one was watching. You were so free!" 😁 This was a great reaction. Thank you!!

"Rio Bravo" (1959) directed by Hollywood great John Ford is an unusual western starring iconic western actor John Wayne. But, also, crooner and actor Dean Martin and early rock and roll pretty boy star Ricky Nelson co -star in the film, and each sings a song. You should give this movie a look, for all the fine things the film brings. Critically admired and highly rated.

This is a cover done in 1967; the original artist was the Four Tops who took it to #11 in 1964. I prefer the Four Tops version, one of my favorite groups of all time. More upbeat and of course that incredible "soul growl" that Levi Stubbs brought to the party.

I always try to listen to older people, not that there are too many around any longer who are older than me. Lol. My grandfather was born in 1880 and passed away at the age of 98 in 1978. He was very interesting to talk to and listen to. His father was a US Deputy Marshall in West Texas, and what is now Southwest Oklahoma. They moved to Greer County, Texas, now Southwest Oklahoma, when my grandfather was a small boy from around the Dallas area in a covered wagon. My grandfather passed down many stories that my father recorded of his father taking him to the Indian reservations when they were still living in teepees as well as stories of his father chasing outlaws in Indian Territory, now Oklahoma, and West Texas down to and across the border of Mexico. When I think of the changes in this world that my grandfather witnessed, it is difficult to comprehend. I love your reaction to Johnny Rivers as always. You two should check out some of Gene Pitney's music or that of Bobby Vinton, who was known as the Polish Prince due to his Polish heritage. I know that you would both love Bobby Vinton. I still have most of his albums in my very large collection and listen to them frequently. I would recommend starting with "Blue Velvet." He has some sad songs that Andre might not like, but all of his music is beautiful.
