Brilliant scene. The bullies in this scene were like Johnny and his friends in high school, and the Latino kid (Miguel) was like Daniel. Johnny was empathizing slightly more with the victim (Miguel) than the bullies during this scene, but not much, and only stepped in when his car might have gotten scratched. But I think he would have eventually stepped in and tried to de-escalate it, if he had any regrets about how he treated Daniel Laruso.

At least two-thirds of these strikes are strikes you do not get up from easily. They probably aren't life threatening unless you have undetected circulatory issues. Out of the rest - quite a few you can shrug off as they are designed to make you stop just long enough for the defender to deal with person #2 coming in from the side. But I spotted at least four kicked, including the first one that are instant hospital/ER visits - one or two possibly sending you to the morgue.

One of the reasons I liked the show so much because I learned martial arts at a young age and my instructor was a lot like Kress. Even though I was only an above average street fighter. That training did lead me to winning 95% of the fights I was in. And I did not follow his no mercy approach. Life is like a snowflake and each confrontation situation is different. And my instructor ended up in prison for a long time. And I tried hard to avoid jail. I would talk my way out of fights that I knew that I could easily win. I would go easy on people who I knew weren't real troublemakers. But people who pulled a knife on me would find themselves getting their arm broken or worse. Now that I think about it the show should have had me as one of the writers.

I miss these type of fights, better camera work and kicks aimed straight for the face without shakey camera works to hide doubles face for sensei actors

Really liked the first season. Completely different tone than the rest of the show. Grittier, less silly.

@@ictpilot tbh he could have done low kicks since they dont tax the body that much, my sensei is 63yo and he almost never does high kicks when sparring, they require a lot of leg flexibility and hip movement, plus If you do them slowly the opponent can hold your leg
