Ruth Ferris’ grave is in Moberly Missouri in the Rothwell Ferris plot. She gave me, her great-nephew, a silver dollar after my father was killed in the Vietnam War and I remember her with love. Thank you John Hartford for memorializing her in your river song.

A natural talent....and verrryy easy on the eyes :) I heard him at a suburb of Chicago club...just finished a song on the fiddle, clogging and playing like a Tasmanian Devil and stepped up next to me at the bar. I told him his fingers were sooo hot!!! and he held out his hand to me and said yep, feel 'em. And they WERE!!!! Love John, and his music......♥

No one like him. Priveleged to have seen him several times in 70's-80's. Went by venue the afternoon before one show & watched him set up his shoe board with a 'new' piano mike as he explained the improvements and worked with sound tech to get levels just right. Never be another!

Watch in this guy on Glenn Campbell show at a young age gave me an old soul. Saw him a couple times once live along the Ohio River 1988 with dozens of Riverboats passing by at an event in Cinti. Celebrating riverboats, you just can't forget Hartford's candy crack verses. Ditto Matt. Steal Your Face. Always a truely good kind feeling. RIP John.

I got to see him a few times l late 70's - early 80's. Then I got away from Bluegrass for a while -- and when I came back he was gone. He is truly missed.
