i love how rw9 is regarded as the clear best defender. but nobody acknowledges how it’s ONLY rw9 scoring 10+ goals at least once in almost every single match he plays. he’s literally at such a level where i’d say not only is he the best defender but he’s also the best goal scorer in 1s but not necessarily best offensive if that makes sense.

A lot of his goals come from his great defense. He is still outclassed by players like Dark in terms of aerial mechanics, though not necessarily in terms of consistency.

RW9 forces his opponents into desperate situations and never stops punishing them til the time is up. Leads to big goal differentials but most of them aren't high pressure outplays from his POV.

Rw9 is just an efficient 1's robot that, not only has all the offensive tricks and mechanics, but you also have to shoot a dozen nice shots before you can score on him, and any time you miss or get blocked at any angle, he's going to quickly score a perfect counter. Every. Time.

I just watched the video on the bot in gc, and I also noticed that at least in this matchup, rw9 didn't celebrate after his goals at all. Maybe that's just something he doesn't do, but I noticed it. He does move after goals in some other matchups, but not here.

@@zdub7937 It's a good observation but that should never be the starting point of a hackusation. I've watched thousands of 1s showmatches over the past several years and I've seen this exact same behaviour in players who are tilted, bored, taking a sip of water, wiping sweaty hands, etc. Countless possibilities. If I had to guess I'd say rw9 is pretty bored in this match-up. He made sweeping monkey look effortless (which is insane). I'd also add that any current rl AI bot would be a massive downgrade from the level of play these guys are at. AFAIK no rl bot has even learned how to fake yet, which alone proves rw9 is legit.

To see someone takedown rw9 in his current form we really someone like dark to step up his consistency. The standard shot, boost steal, shot, ect. just can't work when your opponent has absolutely perfect boost management, almost instant recoveries, and incredible counter attacks. I think rw9 might be one of the last players to really champion this defensive, simple, and solid style considering most young players in the scene seem to have mechanical ability that allows far greater attacking variety while maintaining insane recoveries resulting in relatively few counterattacking goals.

monkey moon definitely has the mechanics, that’s just not his 1s play style. he’s a guy the goes for slow out plays and just plays as much as of a consistent game as he possibly can. i feel like if he played like drali and just trusted his mechanics and just played as fast as possible he could definitely beat anyone. literally at the end of the match as soon as he knew he lost the series he started playing like free play and was starting to score.
