I met Lauren at a book signing in Liberty book store in Boca Raton in the early 90's, I was in line to get her to autograph my book but her publicist said she would only sign hard copies and I had the paperback one, I begged her to ask Lauren to please sign it and Lauren saw this and motioned for me to come up and she signed my book, she was such a doll, such a lovely lady and a great actress...💕💕

@Legittoquit1 Maybe you know first hand? His marriage to Mehot was stormy, with public fist fights and many separations. She was a alcoholic as was Bogart. Add mental and emotional issues to her drinking, and it wouldn't take much to end a marriage. Mehot's attempted suicide and public displays may have been exaggerated to make her look like the bad guy. Who knows what goes on? Bacall was certainly extremely young and malleable. Thank you for the nudge to get me to dig deeper. I didn't know much about any of them. And one can hardly trust Wikipedia 🫢

I personally never went crazy for Bacall's looks but there was something about her that pulled you in every time. I think she had a look but I would not consider her beautiful. Her film debut was so well received you knew she was going places, as they say, and her match-up with Bogey was one made in heaven...for both, I think. When he whistled in "To Have and Have Not" I knew it was not only scripted...it was real and said so much more than a "Wolf's Whistle." She could and did it all...Drama, Comedy, Musicals...the works and she left her mark on the firmament.
