Common mistake: Leeches are not for external application. Twice daily, take two leeches, put them under your tongue and let them dissolve. That's how they work best.

The best part of this, for me at least, is that most "medical training" back then was master/apprentice or passed down through family. Using books and winging it is basically all medicine was back then. Makes the "Charlatan" accusation a little weak.

Boring Medical fact. the beaked Plague Doctor mask is not medieval. it is 17th century, the earliest mention of one is from 1619 in France.

I don't know when Medieval times were, as far as I'm concerned, the 1600s were late medieval.

@@Jordan-kq3qw The 1600s were solidly Early Modern. The Late Medieval is generally agreed to have ended in Europe sometime in the 15th century.
