The things that seem to get under your skin are what makes the places different than where you came from. As a Westerner we find such small things annoying. To the locals that’s what they like and it works for them. I’ve been living in Asia but I’m from California so I know what you mean. Having travelled extensively, we like such destinations but we also like our Western lifestyle. Like going to a predominantly tourist bar and chilling, singing and drinking like it’s nobodies business. I guess it is what it is.

Hi Hohnny, Love your Show! I am following last few weeks. Johnny i was watching one of your youtube and you riding a motorbike and you mention that in Stress, how dangerous driving in the night time in Sri lanka! you are absolutely right. Some of the drivers so level headed.Specially Private buses V Government buses racing each others with there air horns blowing.It can be very intimidating !There no consideration for other road users or no respect for other road users or there life. Night time they are driving with their Head Beam, main beam,fog lights etc.! Most of newer car head light are very bright.I driven many time in Sri Lanka. I will try my best to avoid driving night!

And I have been traveling all most full time before all this corona situation took place. And now travelling is of course not possible except for inter-state mini travels that I do now. Panama Rd.? Did that place get hit hard in 2004 by the tsunami? I think most of the east coast was flattened. I was in Thailand then and remember some of the devastation. I think the worse was in Indonesia, but Thailand, Sri Lanka, India and even as far away as Africa had tsunamis. Stay safe Johnny 🙏🙏🙏

Yes! We live here, in Arugam Bay. And our own place was totally destroyed end 2004. Not a singe Rupee was ever received to rebuild our hotel. It was war times - and nobody really cared about the East Coast

I really enjoy your videos. They are well done. I think you told me you are using an iPhone. What kind of apps do you use and what do you use for editing? I still prefer Chiang Mai and Bali. The food in those places are much healthier and a lot of vegetarian dishes, especially in Chiang Mai. Keeep up the work.

Glad you like them! I film on an iPhone 11 and use iMovie to edit. I also miss the food in Chiang Mai, but Sri Lanka is better than Bali and much safer in almost every way.

@@JohnnyFD . Guess it ain't gonna happen again , ' What with this new normal after the covids. The scene used to be very different in fact there used to be activity & even cafes restaurants & hostels all the way up till the main ulla bridge . The evenings would actually look like a non stop stream of models all dressed up for the evening seeking out their preferred shopping vine & dine experiences.. also many traditional surfer hangouts have either closed up of sold of as the generation that originally set em up back in the 70's changed hands from father to son for eg.. from an entertainment perspective off course siams been on the scene as a pioneer but in the mid 90's mambo's took it to another level & hideaway too with traditional acoustic vibes . & Oceansky too starting up 2015 season . They'v moved spot & also took things to another level,friends indeed, ' & Then we got the blue wave hotel & arugambay roccos rebranding & adding pod bay to the new... many others too changing names seasonally & some new .. off the main strip .. somehow your video was a quick take of the layout .. kudos to that..

Tuk tuk drivers were very helpful when were in Sri Lanka. Some are a pain but if their families need the money,they try hard. I cannot blame them as tuk tuks do a great service

Sri Lanka is free from Corona.... Last insident was found 4 months ago.... only 11 deaths and 3000 patients were reported.... But no corona is any more in Sri Lanka.... But ppl are wearing masks in public places.. since this is a tourists place ppl do not wear masks i guess... 👍
