It's a disgrace there's nowhere on the internet, let alone YT where you can find that out either. If you want a job doing right... The Gen5 advancements are covered in its review as well. The next model looks to substantially revolutionise many areas as well, whenever it's released. Also, I'm not a "Dyson enthusiast"; I'm a technology enthusiast. It just happens that Dyson are the only one pushing the technology and so get all the attention. The rest just copy at the customers' expense.

The accessories that came with the machine were reviewed in the video. Since its release, other extra accessories were made available. These are reviewed in the subsequent model kzbin.info/www/bejne/apKvYZiAmtOHp9k . Information about filters is found in the manual available from Dyson's website, although several videos on my channel cover this in detail, e.g. kzbin.info/www/bejne/imTTo4uIYsaYhck . Dyson recommend leaving it to dry for 24 hours (or until it's obviously dry). (They're bringing out technology in the future on the filter which will tell you when it's dry.) If you put it back in the machine wet, it will mould. Their latest machine is reviewed here kzbin.info/www/bejne/bajEZIaojc1gZtU. Future technology in the works is discussed here kzbin.info/www/bejne/oojTlX5oaJmLnLc and in its pinned comment.

Great review. The only thing I didn't know that was new on the v15 was the finer smaller holed shroud. The only thing I wished dyson would've done was make the shroud smaller like on the outsize. That would've done a few things - increase dirt capacity, increase the internal centrifugal spinning forces generated within the bin, reduce the amount of fine dirt coming through, decrease the amount of dirt and hair wrapped around the shroud, and more dirt would've been separated from the dirty air mix coming in the bin

I for one appreciate how you call out crap other channels do. Many of these vacuum fanatics tend to forget that regular people don’t run exaggerated pick-up tests at home, instead they do actual cleaning. Real life usage is nothing like these test, and most KZbinrs don’t even focus on aspects that are relevant in home cleaning, and which sometimes are only detectable after long time usage.

Yes, I've always been hostile to misleading nonsense that adversely affects others. This whole channel is about exposing all the tricks, deceit, and half truths, and I try to provide what should be told-a representative full truth. And the level of hate I've received by those whose deception has been rumbled, and wonky worldview crushed, has been substantial. Not that any of it caused me to bat an eyelid. I hope to continue to put them all in their place.

I received mine yesterday, and I couldn't be more pleased. Everything works splendidly. I love it! My DC59 Motorhead gave me five years of fabulous service and finally kicked the bucket late last year. I've been forced into using a Shark corded monstrosity since then and it's been driving me crazy. Once you experience the ease and efficiency of cord free vacuuming, you can never go back without feeling like you're dragging an anchor around while cleaning the floors. My new V15 is a weight off of my once again unburdened shoulders, and my days of carefree vacuuming freedom are back again. Thanks Dyson, for such a quality product. House cleaning chores will never be my favorite things, but this machine makes the carpet and floor cleaning ones as close to a pleasure as I believe they'll ever come.

I was so surprised but also excited because I knew then that the v15 was worth the price for me.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the V7 was only designed for 'quick pickups', whereas the V15 is a true mains replacement that's more convenient with smarter bitesized use. Auto mode should only ever really be used though; reactive suction optimises the cleaning power needed.

@appleloss
@appleloss 3 жыл бұрын
@@VacuumFacts you can see the triangle shaped dust stick on metal mesh in the photo. This triangle was made because airflow at lower part of bin is blocked by dust which caught by dust catch. I just wonder why this dust catch even exist. If there is no dust catch, dust will keep spin at lower part of bin until bin is full, so that no big dust will stick to metal mesh.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
@@appleloss The mesh keeps larger particles in the bin. The time between bin fills is insufficient to completely block the entire shroud surface area, and emptying cleans it. It simply doesn't ever clog up with responsible, normal usage. The black rubber skirt keeps dirt back if tipped upside down (e.g. above floor cleaning), and the flow streamlines also help with that. There's no problem here, and certainly no evidence of one.

Yes, I've been disappointed at the other reviews. Slap-dash and missing lots of details people actually want to know about. You get the feeling many out there only review things to 'grow their channel' (read: make more money at your expense from annoying adverts). And that's when they're not gifted one for free to sell out for a bribe review. Gone are the days where people do things because they care. And yes, I don't like spending that much cash, but you get what you pay for, as with everything. Plus there's a 35 day money back guarantee. No light with the standard brush- what's with that???. I bought mini stick on lights on Amazon. I stuck one to the front of the brush. Works well. 2. You have to continuously hold the power button to vacuum. My finger felt like it was going numb in about 10 minutes. Found a $10 switch lock on Amazon. Easy to attach and works flawlessly. Push right to on and left to off. What in the world doesn't this come standard on a $750 vacuum. Those 2 items make this machine almost perfect.

What I noticed on my V11 is that the torque drive head vibrates a bit, which is transferred into our hard wood floor and it becomes so noticable I can even feel it in my feet. Is this normal? I messaged dyson and got a replacement torque drive head, but it's fully identical in sound and how much it vibrates, so I figured this is how it's supposed to be, and it does work amazing on carpet, but I've been considering getting the fluffy head just because I think it'll vibrate less. I don't want to drive the people living below us crazy...
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Because it's a powerful high torque rotating system that makes contact with the ground, it will vibrate. The fluffy head, while not achieving anything the high torque head doesn't, is much lower in power (15 W [30 for V11] rather than 100) and therefore quieter (its only advantage). But the disadvantage is that you've then got to store two heads, carry them around, switch them in and out. Hassle. It's presumably noisy on carpet as well to some degree. I think it's just the nature of the beast.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
Also, if on hard floor, you open the front gates on the head, it will stop the head clamping to the floor and may help reduce vibration, in case you haven't already done that. Possibly try using eco mode on hard floor too. I can't imagine that's it's too noticeable for anyone living below you, even though it may appear louder to you...unless it's like 3am or something.

I don't recommend specific products. I prefer to recommend people learn about the technology and products out there and make their own informed decision. In general, the more modern the product from a given manufacturer, the better. On the Dyson cordless line, the 'V15 detect complete' is their latest flagship product with the latest technologies. The outsize models don't have anti-hair wrap combs on the main head as far as I can tell, or the crevice/dusting combo embedded within the wand.

Hi, I'm aware of no evidence that when treated properly and as directed in the manual, the battery needs replacing in 3 years. It will if it has been abused (e.g. using in boost mode all the time). My battery showed no evidence of any loss of performance after 2 years with the V11, and my older DC35 worked for several years 'as new'. Only those that abuse them encourage premature failure, so always make sure any claims it's a problem are backed up with strong evidence (they never are; it's all propaganda). Air watts are a measure of above floor potential and dont related to carpet cleaning performance since many other factors need to be considered. This is covered on my channel. I would ignore the parameter.

Great video thanks. Crazy how solid-state batteries are still not yet ready at a mass-production scale - you can imagine the amount of R&D going into it (given the competition on who can get the solid state batteries out in front first), not only with Dyson, but automotive industries as well (Toyota has invested heaps since 2014-2015). But once it's out, can imagine the positive impacts it will have across many other industries which rely on batteries - more run time, faster charge times!

Indeed, I've also enjoyed watching this because of the in depth review. Thank you! I also would like to mention and ask about the outsize. We are running a small family accommodation and my plan was to use the v15 + outsize head as our main units (there will be 2 in total). Our room design is focused on not having furniture etc. lying on the floor so vacuuming and mopping is more effective. The outsize is unnecessarily heavy but has similar power as the V15 - that's why I had the idea of using the outsize head on the V15 machine. Would you considering reviewing this specific combination of tools? Or do you have any thoughts on that?
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
The outside main unit is only 0.5 kg heavier than the normal sized unit. The outsize head probably will work with the V15 but I'm not 100%. But the outsize head doesn't have the antihair wrap tech and, to my knowledge, is generally recycled V11 technology. Being bigger, it can get the job done faster.
@kimlorenz7830
@kimlorenz7830 3 жыл бұрын
@@VacuumFacts Thank you. The outsize head works with the V15 I just couldn't find any more info about it and hoped you might have some insight in that :) I'll say that saving 500g will be worth it for us as the dyson will be carried around a lot (2 floors), picked up, put down, etc.. Furthermore the wider head, agreed - being bigger so getting the job done faster = saving the time of the guest, saving our time and money. I hope the hairs will not be that big of an issue - getting small stones stuck in the antihair wrap tech might balance out the advantage as we have quite a lot of small stones around the house (from the street). I will try to make an update on that if I get hands on the V15. Let's see, maybe it's going to be an outsize and a V15.

14:40 glad you pointed out that fluffy/hard floor head is terrible with small objects. i bought a Dyson replacement head just a week ago and hacked it to work to another brand vacuum. It just eats everything in the way like electric plugs, toys, rugs, or slippers. The huge roller is also a weakness on edges and corners, also caused by weaker suction vs a sealed head. It also has the tendency to fling/kick away hard, tiny debris, my daily vac has become longer due to this. Right now, I don't see any advantage to the soft roller except for very one thing, large debris but one can simply put the floor head on top of the debris or just manually with pick it up or sweep it away.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, good point actually. The old kludge of putting the head on top of an object too big to fit under the head to suck it up anyway if needed. Anything big enough to be picked up by hand probably should be. Or at least, criticising any vacuum for getting blocked after you try and fail to suck up a brick is no valid criticism.

@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Carpet is probably getting sucked into the head, jamming the brush bar. It slows down to prevent damage to the carpet. Either the carpet is not pinned down correctly, or very dense, preventing much airflow through it, so it acts like hardfloor. Solution is to reduce suction so it's not pulled in as much (eco and head switch set to '-').

Agreed with the Absolute description of including a HEPA filter! I was so confused and had to do a lot more research to figure out it meant nothing, and all the V15 Detect units, as well as other Dyson vacuums, come with a HEPA filter that is screwed on the back of the unit. So why is Dyson stating with HEPA filtration on the Absolute and not the other V15 versions? This just confuses customers? The Absolute has a few more attachments and a built-in crevice and dusting tool. I thought the addition of this just added real-time weight to the vacuum and may restrict airflow through the wand, so I opted for the V15 Detect. I would like to get the low-reach adapter that comes with the Absolute, but not sure how well it works. When I first went to Dyson's site to look at these, I thought they were physically different devices, but after an hour or so of research, I determined they are the same base units with extra attachments. You are paying more for those attachments, and many of them I didn't need.

We received under warranty both a new wand and main body, but the same happened again within a year. I did love the Dyson, but I'm not paying out the cost for a V15 if this issue hasn't been fixed. Hard to say without seeing evidence of exactly what constitutes 'wobble' and the alleged negative effects being carefully quantified. If you can provide some, send it along for examination. @@VacuumFacts I problem is two-fold, the main body and wand having plastic grooves which wear over time and the 2-pin electrical connection on the opposite side of the locking clip becoming loose. The clip was probably the main problem. I eventually glued the clip and also a thin plastic strip inside the main body to stop the loose fit. There is a KZbin video of a customer with a brand new V11 with a loose wand, which was why I declined to go for the V11. Maybe I'm over using the cleaner and disconnecting the wand from the main body too often, but I did expect better for a cleaner with price tag nearing £500 though.

@@craiglawrence5211 No; hardfloor is very simple because it lacks the complex network of interlocking fibres which trap particles as they're drawn towards the low pressure head. There's always some overlap needed, even on hard floors, otherwise you miss spots. You generally don't need to overlap as much. Crevices-particualrly deep ones-might need more than one pass depending on dimensions and what's down there (and how fast you're vacuuming). I think they realise how good the fluffy head is and how redundant it is with the high torque head. But, because they invented it and it is easily cloned, they don't want to give a free pass to the cheeky copycats, so continually develop it to outclass them. Switching heads or the brush bars on a given head? Switching heads (high torque to fluffy etc.) during normal operation is straight forward. The high torque head has you covered for all tasks anyway. If the brush bar needs replacing (and there's no good reason why it should during its lifetime during responsible use), it's modular, so just buy one and slot it in.

@Vacuum Facts one idea that would be good along with the other suggestions you mention in your video; should the brushes or carbon fibre brushes wear on the brush roll Dyson should make the brush strips slide out for easy replacement. Saves on having to replace the whole brush roll barrel.

@@VacuumFacts so you're saying all the people who need to replace their batteries after 2-3 years are abusing their dyson stick vacs? Genuinely curious, how does one abuse a battery on a vacuum?
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 2 жыл бұрын
No, because that would be a silly thing to claim. I am claiming that I've seen no evidence of how to reproduce 'battery failure after 2-3 years' without abuse (namely using it in boost all the time, which goes directly against the manual's clear instructions). I have had a conversation with someone on here in fact, who claimed theirs failed after 2-3 years, but later admitted, after questioning, using it exclusively in boost mode. So there is evidence that one mechanism for premature failure is failing to follow the manual's instructions.

I'm not 100% sure what bits come with which models. Best check Dyson's website to be sure. I think the base unit is generally the same, so you can always buy missing bits separately anyway if you decide afterwards. The possible exception is the 'complete' model, which has a different wand with integrated crevice and brush tools (update: in the US only, it seems).

Our Exclusive V15 animal came with the light pipe crevice tool in the box even though it's not listed on the website as included you'll also get the new advanced HEPA filter which is meant to be better than the one included with the Nonexclusive V15 models. The Quick-release mini soft dusting brush was listed as coming with the exclusive Animal model but was not included and was not listed on the packaging instead it seems they replaced it with the light pipe crevice tool which was listed on the packaging. If you complain to Dyson once you have it they will send out the Quick-release mini soft dusting brush.

@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
I've seen no evidence there was any 'official' problem with trigger switches. I'm aware of only a tiny number of cases of such failures (literally a handful), which amounts to a statistical insignificance and not evidence of any genuine problem. All I can confirm is that my trigger switches, like most, have never failed. They are feather touch and need negligible force to activate, so I'm not sure how it's physically possible for them to fail. In cases where such failure has occurred, I've seen no evidence of how it occurred or, more importantly in determining whether it is a genuine problem, how it could be reproduced. So it's a very rare mystery.

Hi, I found your channel by pure chance this morning after typing in Samsung jet 90 v Dyson reviews and your unbiased reviews are by fare the best on KZbin. I am looking to replace my old Dyson DC41 Upright as it is fare to heavy for me to handle around the bungalow. I suffer with various illnesses which make getting around not so easy, two of which are fibromyalgia and chronic asthma. In your opinion would I be doing right in going for a Dyson V15 Absolute? In late December last year I purchased a shark cordless top of the range vacuum, it was returned to them after the Christmas / new year period because the battery pack continuously jumped out of the housing every time the vacuum passed over am aluminium floor joint. And believe me, I was not rushing around the house - I wish I was. I finally managed to get my £499.99 refunded to me after about 6 weeks and many many emails and telephone calls to the company which employ staff only with a Masters Degree in being rude, ignorant dickheads. I looked into the Samsung Jet 90 but after your review of it I’ve knocked that idea on the head. Will I be making the right choice with the Dyson V15 and if so, the complete or absolute model? I’ve scrubbed the idea of the oversized one due to its extra weight. Many thanks in advance. Stay safe and well. Greetings from Cumbria in the U.K.

As I don't suffer from those specific conditions, it's hard to know what the experience of the symptoms is like. So I can't advise there. However, whatever product you chose to buy, take advantage of their money-back guarantee in case it's not for you. All I can say is what's in the reviews; some products are objectively better than the others. The Dyson V15 is the best I've tried, and if it doesn't work for you, it's unlikely any will. You may want to hold off (unless you can't) and get the next generation of Dyson cordless, whenever it's released, which I'm predicting may have a much more powerful and lighter battery (using new battery technology). Otherwise, try the V15 for 35 days and return it if it doesn't work for you. The different models are similar; only the tools it comes with are what distinguish them. Check their website for details of what comes with each model.

Why, if you've got the V15? The Micro is designed for quick pickups on hard floor in-between cleans from a main machine (as well as a bit of above floor cleaning). But if you've got a V15, I don't see how you can get any more convenient. For some, the omniglide might even be a better purchase over the Micro if you don't need a pet tool. Neither the Omniglide nor Micro particularly appeal to me, like many other of their products, mostly because I've no use for them (and I'm not made of money).

What temperature is the air that exists from the machine?
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the power mode and the ambient air temperature before passing through the machine. If you really care, I'd suggest calculating it given the power consumption in each mode and corresponding air flux exhausted from the machine (which is the only thing you'd need to accurately measure). It's a fairly simple calculation.
@WasherFan75
@WasherFan75 3 жыл бұрын
@@VacuumFacts Or you could just put a thermometer in the air flow of the machine and find the temperature increase compared to the ambient temperature. If the air is warm it shows wasted energy.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
@@WasherFan75 Yes, you could do it the other way around and directly measure exhausted air temperature as well, except you have to normalise for the volumetric air flow to calculate the portion of the motor power converted to heat and you still have to know the motor power (which is a simple calculation). It's the only way to calculate efficiency (which is presumably what you're attempting to determine). Are you aware of any power-consuming product that does not heat the air? I'm not. I'm aware of no product which is 100% efficient. I'm also aware of no meaningful reason to quantify it, particularly as it's already obvious from the run times for a given power consumption that it lasts longer and thus has to be more efficient than other motors.
@WasherFan75
@WasherFan75 3 жыл бұрын
@@VacuumFacts Yeah, is the air that comes out of the exhaust slightly warm at all? Of course, pretty much every power consuming device outputs some waste heat. 100% efficiency is very difficult and only things such as heaters can achieve such high efficiency as almost all energy put in is producing heat. Even if a motor was somehow able to create no heat, the motor would still produce noise which is also technically wasted energy. I'm just wondering if the air from your V11 is warm all all? Even just from feeling the air on your hand. Batteries often get hot during charging and when being used which is also wasted energy. Efficiency is important, especially from something like a V11 with a limited battery source. Also what is the design life of the V11?
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
@@WasherFan75 To the touch, I'm only able to detect a little warmth from both the V11 and V15 in boost mode (which is only intended for short usage). In auto mode, the air doesn't feel much different to ambient AFAICT. The design life of the V11 is hard to tell. Dyson apparently test it harshly for 5 years of service. Of course, people using it normally are under conditions less harsh, and Dyson have historically said 10 years at the very least for some products. It's also entirely modular too, so even if anything fails, you just swap out the part, which is much cheaper. Failure is also statistical, so you need data to be sure, as well as knowledge of how it was treated. My DC35 lasted 7 years and was like new before I upgraded. V11 is 2 years and like new. No apparent battery max capacity loss. So used normally and responsibly, many years is my observation. I've no data on statistical trends or correlations with causes.

Would you be interested reviewing the Dreame brand of vacuums? It has cyclone filtration and I hope you test it if its any good.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 жыл бұрын
Not really. Many argued, in a similar way, that other products, like the Samsung Jet 90, Lupe Pure, and Shark cordless etc. were 'Dyson killers'. All those listed used cyclonic technology. As always, a simple fact-check and some empirical measurements showed lousy knockoff clones to be the weak performers anyone sensible could have seen beforehand. Their cyclones clogged or weren't as effective (the best ones are still patented by Dyson), their products had major usability issues, weak technology, didn't perform as well etc. as outlined in the reviews. So what evidence, beforehand, is there that the Dreame brands are not in the same knockoff-clone boat as all the rest? There isn't any. They'll likely be functional, but unacceptably inferior to Dyson's machines. You can already tell from the stats and the way in which they sloppily clone features without researching and developing anything new. Reviews here kzbin.info/aero/PLBxUOcW7kaEtK3qcKCMEaLKTrP8Ehu8sz
