This is such a special song for BTS and ARMY, and it's not just because it is our first official fan song. I always cry when I remember where it's rooted from. Most fan songs would typically have lyrics of love for fans and all that. But our first fan song, 2!3!, talked about all the hardships we faced during that time, and how thankful they are that ARMYs stuck with them despite everything and from now own, when we count 2!3!, we'll erase all the sad memories and walk together with a smile. It's no surprise that 2015-2016 are some of the hardest years for both BTS and ARMYs, with multiple attacks online and offline while BTS were still starting to build themselves. 2!3! is a song that says whatever hardships we may face, no matter how hard the situation is, as long as we trust and believe in each other, we'll be okay and we'll only have better days ahead. They didn't give us flowery/sugarcoated words, it's the rawness, honesty, and sincerity of the lyrics that gets me everytime. And I am so proud of BTS and ARMYs for making it through. It's also nice to note that it is with this song that purple became part of our identity. ARMY bombs didn't have a bluetooth feature yet during the first performance of 2!3! but they wanted to surprise BTS so they coordinated with the staff and covered their lightsticks with purple plastic bags to resemble a flower path (referrencing the lyrics). Ofc BTS were pleasantly surprised and it was then that Taehyungie gave a whole new meaning to purple for us. And then, the term "borahae" ws coined and the rest is history. 💜

2! 3! is still to date one of my favorite songs. It was the first song officially written for Army. It was released during the Wings era, which if you don’t remember from the Hardships video, BTS went through a lot. They were constantly attacked by haters, judged by not just them but also a western audience because it was their during their World Tour. They went through a lot. The song is saying “it’s okay. Just count 1, 2, 3 with me and let’s hope for better days. Let’s let all the bad memories fade and forget our pain.” In concert, BTS sing this to Army and even after the song ends, Army continues to sing it for BTS, reciprocating the message so we are telling THEM that everything will be okay. It’s truly beautiful, one of my all time favorites from them

Around 2015-2016, they received lots of hate and accusations from other fandoms because their career were starting to take off. And since their company was still very small (just beginning to gain and grow) BTS only have themselves and Army to eachother, they knew how Army was trying to defend and protect them, and they know how hard it was for Army at that time, (some Army even left the fandom because it just hurt them too much), so I think BTS have this in mind, knowing what Army was going through, so they wrote this song to comfort them and tell them they will together go on a beautiful flower path. Just another note, at that time the army bomb doesn't have blue tooth, only have one white lighting, so Army covered the army bomb in purple plastic bag, so then Tae gave the meaning to purple, and that's how purple became an important thing.

You can totally see how emotional that was for them to sing it to ARMY and then have ARMY send that message back. They may have not cried like they do sometimes but you can just tell! I feel like seeing the feeling in it really makes it ring true even more. Also, I may not be able to watch the movie with you but I am sure that if you get emotional it's ok with all of us! One thing I realised about BTS members a long time , they are so so much more than what meets the eye .. they have a really deep understanding of themselves and what life must be like for their fans on a daily basis, they always try their best to give us songs that cheer us up, encourage us to do better, feel better about our selves and that we are not alone in whatever situation we may find ourselves in at any given time .. there is always a BTS song that fits your emotional needs .. thats why we love them so much, now and forever 👍👍👍🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I made a mistake listening to this while eating 😭 I ended up crying..when I first listened to this song, I was feeling broken .. then I read the lyrics.. when RM opened with I'm not going to lie and say it would all be good .. I just lost it.. sometimes u don't need people to keep sugar coating negative thing.. but what they told me, here, is that,.just breathe, count 1 2 3 .. listen to our songs and forget at least for a while Ur pain. Find strength in our songs and face again tomorrow. This song is one of those things that are like a pillar in my life. Been 6-7 years since I’ve known the song, listened to it so many times, and it’s still never lost on me. “It’s gonna be okay… Take a breath… Count 1,2,3… You’re gonna be fine, I’m with you…” There’s no one else that does that to me, except for maybe my parents, no one else that feels like they speak directly to my soul. Every one of the rap verses say big things one by one. Namjoon saying “I want to promise you only good days from now on” as a leader of both Army and BTS wanting to do the best for both, but at the same time he says “I can’t do that, I can’t promise that. Cuz we had hardships and there will be way many more hardships and I can’t lie to you like that promising something that big”. There’s a big value put in support in those words, but also a lot of value in honesty, which is a must-have in a strong relationship, which is necessary to have as a leader. Suga’s part is all about unfiltered, straight-to-the-facts thoughts. He’s quoting all the toxicity and hate points people threw at them one by one. All the “you guys are idols anyway, not real musicians”, “I don’t even have to listen or watch you, I know you suck”, “I bet you guys act fake in front of the cameras and have done some shit in your past”, all of that we, as Army, have seen and have heard so many times, and still keep hearing it, and the boys have heard it the most. People won’t even give them a chance and start spewing toxicity, hating for the sake of hating most of the times. And amongst all of that, you also have to prove your worth? Amongst all the discouragement and hate you receive, you still have to find strength to put out beautiful music like this. And they are doing it, they’re achieving their dreams, and in the meantime they understand that all that toxicity is nothing more than a projection from just insecure people and that all they have to do is be themselves and keep on living. All of that is said in like 8 lines. Suga put out all of those raw thoughts full of frustration and exhaustion and summed all of that up in a bundle of hopefulness and kindness, even towards their haters, saying it’s just their insecurities speaking. How am I supposed to not be amazed by that? Hoseok’s lines are perfectly like what I imagine his thoughts were right after another stage in their early days. Going from performance after performance in crowded corridors of some music show where they weren’t even given a green room, sitting in the corner wondering “Did I do good enough? What’s gonna happen to our team if we fail this one? If I fail? What am I doing this for?”, filled with doubts. In times like this, the only thing keeping him together was the thought of the members working hard with him and the people who came to watch him perform. Even if there was a couple dozen of them in the audience or thousands in an arena, they will be there, waiting for me in pouring rain, in scorching summer heat, coming from the countryside, from overseas, they will be there. They were always there at my lowest, they were always there at my happiest. All I have to do is be good enough for them and for my members. They are all that matters, they are the ones I’m eternally thankful for. All of the members can relate to every bit of the song and every Army also can relate to every bit of the song. 2!3! is their sincerity, the comfort they bring, their artistic authenticity and creativity, all of that in a single song that is so full of depth and is so down to earth at the same time. The song’s impact and truthfulness doesn’t change. It meant the same when it was released, it can be applied to their debut days, and it still means the same to this day when they are insanely successful. That is why I love it so much. When things are hard, just remember: Count 1, 2, 3… Take a breath… Everything is gonna be okay :)

This song is part of one of my favorite days EVER as an ARMY. You’ve probably heard about some of the troubles they went thru in November 2018 when old images of Jimin wearing a shirt that featured the atomic bomb when tensions were escalating with SK and Japan. Caused a cancellation of a Japan tv appearance (side note: I believe the shirt was commemorating SK’s independence). Twitter ARMY jumped into action and launched #ProjectBuy23 as a way to speak out love and support back to the members to comfort them. That day, we put 2!3 (a b-side song from 2016) in the top of the iTunes Charts. Hit the top 10 in the US within just a few hours.

I love this song, and this performance, and this band. This song is so much about BTS and ARMY supporting and loving each other despite all the nasty things they/we had to go through. This song is comfort for both the guys and ARMY, who have sometimes stood alone against a very hateful world. This is so important. There are a few live Bangtan moments that will always make me cry no matter how many times I watch them. When ARMY sings this song back to the members, and they’re taking it in with so many visible emotions 😭 This is definitely one of those moments. The boys letting ARMY know they’re ok, and reassuring better days are coming. Then ARMY doing the same in return. It’s like the ugly outside world doesn’t even exist in that moment. I can’t imagine how it was for the ARMYs who loved and cared for them during these hard, early times to receive this gift. The BTS/ARMY relationship is so special and so symbiotic. No wonder people don’t get it. How could you understand something this deep and beautiful without being a part of it?
