K-Pop companies have a rigorous training program that lasts an average of five years. Kids, typically still in school, audition for training. About 1-2% get hired, after their parents sign their contracts. They then spend long hours with choreographers and vocal coaches. They're constantly evaluated, and risk being sent home if they don't deliver the goods. Those whose families don't live locally, stay in dorms. The result is professional singers and dancers who, when the stylists go to work, are transformed into K-Pop idols!
