MTQ Engine Systems in brisbane stepped up and offered to rebuild the turbo and the injection pump for Milo 2. This clip is longer than most because there’s plenty to explain inside the fuel pump but the big takeaways for me were the importance of good fresh oil and filter changes and the reasons why you should never let a diesel run low on fuel.
Milo 2 is my chance to go top shelf and I’m taking the time to get nothing but the best. It’s also a learning process for an old bush mechanic, getting to mix it with the best technicians in the country like Mark and Ronnie at MTQ.

Take a look at that machine - it's essentially a dyno for your little pump engine! Great video, awesome to see your pump fully rebuilt. I wish my CRD had one.

I had to run the numbers Roothy gave! 1500 RPM x 60 mins = 90,000 After 10 hour day = 900,000 4 days a week = 3,600,000 1 Year = 187,200,000 10 years = 1,872,000,000 (1.87 Billion revs, the engine pistons would have doubled that)

1,872,000,000 x 2 = 3,744,000,000 (Engine revs) Stroke of the 12ht = 102mm 102mm x 2 = 204mm (Piston moves up and done in one rev) 204mm x 3,744,000,000 = 7,637,760 km (Total distance the piston has travelled) Therefore, in the 10 years, the piston has travelled to the moon and back in distance 10 times. A round trip to the moon every year. Makes you realise how important lubrication really is.

Hi John keen to see this on the road soon! Have you had much experience with putting some good quality 2 stroke oil in with the fuel? People have said since diesel nowadays contains less sulphur (therefore less lubrication) the injector pump is not getting lubricated sufficiently. So adding the oil i think in a ratio of 1:200 is supposed to help the pump last. Cheers.
