1-2 blocks right outside the university is safe. Most incidents happen in neighborhoods about 5+ blocks outside of campus

For all 4 years, you can decide to stay in housing that’s within this 1-2 block radius. I’ve personally lived about 5 blocks away and the classic rules of thumb include being aware of your surroundings (ie don’t look at ur phone), use blue jay shuttle at night, etc.
