We are entering another era of John’s bros dominance. The last few months have been tough but it’s definitely the best thing that could’ve happened to them. They looked like a new team and Collins offense and counters were top tier
@Bob_DaBuilder-i3x3 ай бұрын
It seems to me Collin has evolved into a better rounded player capable of more offense. Or maybe he has been the whole time, but it didn't fit into their former paradigm. In any case it's impressive to see.

@@Bob_DaBuilder-i3xI agree with you 100% but as a long-time Johns viewer, it really just seems like a jump in confidence for CJ. He looks awesome here.

I like all the players in this match but am glad to see the Johns bothers modifying their game for a new style of play and posting a win after the drought (while adjusting their game). McGuffin and Vich are two of the most fun players out there, so also glad to see them in the finals! On a side note,........It used to be that Dave Flemmings did a good job announcing the games, but it seems he is slipping into bad habits of the PPAs other (terrible) announcers, i.e. never shutting up! It would be so nice if there was a channel where you could turn off the commentary and still hear all the other sounds of the game, sans-announcers. Brief commentary, personal opinions with occasional anecdotes are OK in small doses......and better if those doses are never administered while the ball is in play..

Commentating should be during the end of points and in between them.

There’s a pretty “clubby” or insider feel to a lot of the commentary: from using nicknames for players to making passing, incomplete references to things going on in tour orbit that casual fans don’t know about. IMO this tendency cuts against the grain of the accessibility of pickleball being one of its greatest strengths.

And the whole "new" play style from the johns is only working because they have the hottest most powerful paddles out there.

@@BlGSac If they must, that's the best place for them to speak. I do think if they did not babble on continuously, they could focus on less but more meaningful commentary.

For anyone who thought that Colin John’s only played with Ben Johns, because they were brothers, you can now see that you were totally wrong! I think Collins ability to step up his game and become a more dominant player, although, overshadowed by his awesome brother in the past, he’s now showing us what he’s really made of!!! The John’s brothers are my favorite, male duo!

Colin played like an animal the first two games, then played like roadkill the third game. Cant wait to see if this new Colin will get the Johns brothers back on top consistently.

CJ's serve strategy is absolutely genius
@austinbarnes37643 ай бұрын
What's he doing?
@yoonyulntaeny3 ай бұрын
@austinbarnes3764 CJ often does a short slow serve, then lets Ben do a deep heavy serve which causes the rhythm to keep changing making it hard for opponents to adjust. And since his serves are low and short, his opponents can't hit back a hard return because there's less court to work with, making for an easier third shot drop for CJ or Ben increasing their percentage of getting to the kitchen. You can see Tyson gets thrown off a few times by the changes in rhythm

Johns more aggressive play and more drives from Colin……nice change from previous tournaments and maybe because Ben wasn’t 100%. Either way hopefully they’ll adapt the new play…..it worked not only in this finals match but the quarters and semis too.

Can we have clarity of the difference between meanings of deep and long? Hitting a ball deep is good. Hitting the ball long is not…
@andrewgarcia32643 ай бұрын
Long means the ball went too far and landed out, deep means the ball lands deep in the court
