You are so knowledgeable and very very talented. I'm glad it found it's way to you. Is shop dog a labradoodle or a golden doodle? She looks , to me, like a lab but her personality is the more laid back & well behaved of a golden.

Wow you have been through some rough times but came out on top. Your bathroom looks great ,both for that matter. I can't hardly ever tell what kind of wood is in front of me. That old chair will be usable for the next half century. You seem to be a perfectionist and that shows in details. Shopdog is so cute, up there supervising. She/he has a crazy tail. It looks like it has an extra half curl. When I first saw the wood after you cleaned it, I thought that it might be teak. The area that you chiseled looked like it might be.

45 years ago, I found two similar rockers in my grandfather's shed. I was able to salvage one good rocker by switching out parts from each. I took the rocker to be dip stripped to remove the old red barn paint! Then to furniture repair shop to glue and repair. I used linseed oil and paste wax to seal the wood. I had the rocker caned. A few years ago, I passed the rocker on to my daughter. It has not needed refinishing for all these 45 years!

Even though it isn't finished yet, the rocker looks amazing. I did kind of laugh when you said the rockers were off, because these back two years have been off their rockers.
