My man this is the best video I’ve ever seen. Bought mine a few years ago used it maybe 3 times. I couldn’t get the thing started kinda had an idea what I needed to do after watching this video ran out bought the spark plug new gas and oil. Drained everything took the carburetor apart cleaned it up put it all back together started in one pull. We are supposed to get a couple nice snow storms (I’m in southern NJ for what it’s worth) in the next week, now we won’t get any 🤣 Edited: the hardest part of this job was finding a god damn 10mm socket lol

I'm not too familiar with small engines, haven't ever successfully taken apart and fixed a carburetor before (tried once with an old mower). But this video was straightforward and easy to follow along with, and I was able to follow along easily. I took apart the carburetor and saw an incredible amount of crud. Cleaned it all out, reassembled and it runs better than it ever has, even when it was brand new. Thank you for a quality tutorial, this was well made and was a huge help in turning a frustrating day into a successful one!

I have this exact snow Blower and was acting the same after almost 2 years of storage. Followed the diagnostic steps. Gas wasn't so bad because I use stabilizer. Spark plug looked nasty. Flushed the gas and replaced spark plug. Started like a champ with a steady speed so no reason the clean the carb. Having a large storm today, so found this just in time Thanks so much for your great videos. Charlie

NIce fix, sometimes I get lucky and can just remove the bowl and spray some carb spray up into the main jet, also the surging is generally caused by the idle jet being plugged. Lots of time I will open up the idle jet by one mini drill size and the engines will run much better. EPA is making the engine MFG's run the engines way to lean. Thanks for great video.

I was hoping I just had bad gas, so I flushed the system and it still didn't start. I followed your clear instruction on how to remove and clean the carburetor and it fired right up! Thank you!

I’m glad this was helpful and your back up and running! Just make sure to either totally run your machine out of fuel at the end of the season or make sure you’re running your machine once every other month for about 20 minutes to make sure the gas stays fresh inside the carburetor. Thank you for sharing and the kind comment. Please give this video alike and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much! I was able to drain the gas out of the carburetor and replace it with freah gas. That did the trick. It runs now, but not well with the choke at "run"
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines Жыл бұрын
You very welcome, thank you for sharing and the kind comment. When you get a chance, after the season is over, I would suggest follow the rest of the video and clean the carburetor. It should get it back to running without the choke on. Then try and run non ethanol gas, Aspen4 or equivalent. Please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe if you haven't already and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated! Take care.

Nice video. I haven’t seen this generation of this engine yet in person but I believe they heard us mechanics cussing about having to remove all that gingerbread on previous models.

Simpler and no throttle. Not sure how I feel about starting a snow thrower in very cold conditions straight to fast. 5W30 oil it is! Thank you for watching, commenting and supporting the channel!

Toro does that preset governed speed on some of those single stage 4 stroke snow blowers. As for 5w30 I do that. Especially in the older tecumseh flathead snow king engines. I have an old sears craftsman snow blower on my channel that runs an H70 snow king engine and I always ran 5w30 in it. I do 5w40 in the newer OHV machines as well.

Exactly the video I needed. Would you have any videos that cover the gears? I haven’t used my blower in over a year and now I can’t get it into reverse 2. Not sure if the cable needs to be adjusted or it’s a transmission issue.
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 14 күн бұрын
Make sure your only shifting gears when the drive handle is in the up position. Most likely it is an adjustment. I do not have a video on that at this time.

I enjoyed this video an learned from it,how ever i have no spark. I know how to test the coil but not sure of ehat the ohm readings should be? I have a 2420 but the engine series b4 this one
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines Ай бұрын
No need to check ohms. Just get yourself an inexpensive, spark tester at your local automotive store and check your spark. You will also need to try and disconnect the ground wire from the coil so it is the only thing you’re testing in the loop. Just in case you have a bad ground. Make sure you’re throttle is at least at half speed and make sure if you have a key button, it is there and in the spot

Good morning. I have a Storm 2410 that wont start and don’t know the history of it-it had some fuel in it-i wasn’t thinking and added some fresh fuel and the spark plug was cracked so i replaced that and still wont start. After watching this I’m thinking i need to drain the fuel and try some starting fluid and see if it runs that bit and go from there? Guessing this machine is close to the one you did the video on? I am a subscriber now and thank you for any other information you could give me! Have a good day

@@JohnsonsSmallEnginesHi thank you for getting back to me-I did drain fuel and when I replaced spark plug-porcelain was broken-new plug wouldn’t go in all the way and didn’t wanna force anything! Wondering if I got the right replacement-not sure-did spray starting fluid in it and got it to crank over and then died! Concerned about plug now though? Any info from you and or anyone would help! Thank you again. Have a good night

Okay, having a similar issue (I have this same snowblower), pretty sure it’s the gas, I can drain the carburetor, was there some other method you used to drain the gas tank other than the turkey baster method? How do you ensure that the tank is drained so I’m not mixing two types of fuel? Thanks, great video BTW
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 3 ай бұрын
Drain the tank however you feel works for you. I use a Turkey baster. To drain tank completely you can remove the fuel line at the carburetor and let the tank drain out 100 %. Using a Turkey baster or similar method will get it clean enough to start using only one type of gas.

How long did you run the ultrasonic cleaner for in your mix with simple-green and water? Also did you end up putting in the entire carb too or just the jets? Great video. First time starting mine up in 2 years and it is only running on full choke and surging. Checked the oil, gas, and spark. Those are good / fresh. Time to pull the carb in a 10 degree garage lol
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines Жыл бұрын
30 minutes, yes, simple green and water. Everything goes into the cleaner. I highly suggest cleaning all jet passage ways with a wire before putting into cleaner.

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thanks for your response! Two more quick questions... What cleaning solution do you use in your ultrasonic cleaner? Do you put the o-ring and float in it?
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines Ай бұрын
I use 6oz of Simple green concentrate to my 10L=2.64gallon ultrasonic cleaner bought it from Vevor. Works great. I do pre-clean the carburetor the best I can before I put it in the cleaner. They work great but cannot perform miracles. I put everything in but the needle valve on the China carburetors. If I can clean the large rubber bowl gasket by wiping it, I do that first. Plastic floats and plastic jets with O-rings on them all go into the cleaner. I use a small parts zip loc bag (so you do not loose the small parts) and fill the bag with the solution and parts then put it in with the carburetor into the cleaner. The heat and the ultrasonic frequency is what really cleans the parts but the soap definitely does help!
