Anybody prepared to stand up and play live music to entertain others gets my vote. If you don't agree then just try it, it's a mixture of adrenaline and terror. There's no hiding place if you screw up 🙄😁

My mate was a drummer back in the 70's and 80's and he was in a band that played at these kind of social clubs all over the north west of England. They were very good and were booked every weekend somewhere in the region. I often used to go with him and they were always great nights with plenty of cheap drinks and full of friendly people. Alan still plays drums in a band now and even though I admit a small bias I have always thought of him as one of the best rock drummers ever. Great times I'll never forget

When I got married in 1997, my mother and father (although divorced at the time), both came along to the whole shebang. One of our invited guests was an old flame of my fathers (before he married me mum). None of us knew that she was, as she was a friend of my soon-to-be wifes family. My dad was a rocker (proper biker, born in 1938) and his old flame used to be his moll (back seat/pillion hang-around). Anyhow - at my wedding, we had the compulsory Rock n' Roll belting out, and I always heard about my father being a good mover on the dancefloor - but never saw it until that day. What has this got to do with this video? Well, these 2 people here on stage at the Wheeltappers and Shunters, dancing like their lives depended on it, are an instant flash-back to my dad and his ex girlfriend that night on our reception floor. It was amazing to watch my Father dance like this, and both were having the time of their lives. Ok, they both had to sit down for a breather half way through! bike club back in the day. So add to that, the fact he was there in 1997 with his old moll AND my mum watching was a rather bizarre feeling. It's like I stepped back in time. A bit like Marty in ''Back to the Future''. I was brought up watching the Wheetappers, along with the other show, ''The Comedians''. Tonight is a crazy night for all-sorts of returning memories and this video has just brought back another!

Working Men's Club acts from the 1970's. The band is in full 1950's regalia and the dancers are 1970's leather, Glam Rock outfits. Cultural history. Looks like the audience would have been teens in the 1950's and popular culture didn't move on as fast as it does today. Time warp.

It was a tribute act. Like Showaddywaddy, Shaking Stevens, The Darts et al. 50s revival was a feature of the 70s.
