Hi, I am a Singaporean and I really enjoyed your potcast, even though it was the first episode, especially with Dr OKM participating. I also like Keluar Sekejap and both potcasts are very informative. With the SOJ ascending the Agong's throne soon and TMJ's initiative/outlook and PM's people, there will be good synergies between Malaysia and Singapore. I have always said that a properous Malaysia is good for Singapore.

Been listening a lot to ur PODCAST using Spotify. Great show educating the layman on gov policy. Envy so much learning about the plan for SEZ , HSL that can bring in huge development for Johor. Connection is really the key. Envy that Sarawak is moving ahead very fast realising that Pan Borneo is a huge factor in bringing progress,.... please please Dtk OM & Peter, please talk about WTH is Sabah gov doing? Why are they so slow, yes the instability of politics all these years pull back Sabah's progress very much. Can please discuss what Sabah gov should be doing. Is the current state gov policy is right for Sabah, is the action by the GRS gov fast enough to help Sabah. Thanking u two in advance

Speaking as an expert in AI domain, I think the autonomous vehicle sandbox idea is great. Singapore has “perfect” road in terms of of marking and maintenance. Malaysia, in certain sense, is less perfect yet not as bad compared to some other asean countries. Hence it makes it a good real-world tested and help manufacturers to stress test their system before making into harder road conditions like Vietnam.

Refreshing to hear the potential of Malaysia's future in a positive way then in the mundane way of race, religion and dressing code. This discussion should be done at national TV media for the intelligent Malaysians to tune in and to reflect the way this country should be progressing rather than decaying in medieval ideology

My view is that Klang Valley, Johor and Penang are going to play different economic roles/focus in coming years. Klang Valley will become the national and even regional (Particularly ASEAN, Asian) hub for many key industries, businesses as it has been. Penang will focus on smart manufacturing and the hardware/semiconductor hub for Malaysia and also regionally. Johor, unfortunately, my view they will continue to play the "supporting role" to SG at best, which may not necessarily be a bad thing as long as they position it right. Hence, to me, I think Johor's trump card besides connectivity, is also making Johor/JB a great place to live so much so that it will attract people in SG and Johoreans to stay/work in Johor. The industries/sectors that Johor could focus on are the sectors of which SG is no longer cost competitive, lack of land and/or lack of the talent/labor. Whilst I agree with Chin Tong on many things, I don't agree that Malaysia and Singapore has one workforce, maybe between Johor and Singapore, yes. Besides that, we're very independent and separate.

I live here within Liew Chin Tong's constituency. Greater JB has been so poorly planned. One good example is Medini & Puteri Harbour which was built from scratch, it's a failure as of today. I really think JB is a gold mine with its proximity to SG but somehow the federal & state governments and GLCs and Agencies just keep finding ways to screw things up with planning, policy and execution.

Dr Ong may I know your opinion about the possibility of an alliance between PH and GPS and drop BN in the long run. What i think would make it work is to present a clear plan to the GPS leadership to transition the oil revenue back to their state level. This would be short term pain. The west malaysians would have to move away from oil revenue dependency and pivot towards business and investment to create wealth. Meritocratic reforms would be key to attracting FDI.

Agritech will be difficult, especially since there is already precedence of the Govt banning export (chicken ban) or if price control comes into effect. Doesn't address Singapore's food security concerns. The other big issue in Johor is the lack of talent especially for industry. Perhaps Johor needs to work harder to promote itself domestically as a work destination as an alternative to KL.

This. The tech portion of the plan is already plausible, just need proper development to have a CBD like SG. The agriculture aspect is a little iffy.

Good job Mr Money, but kinda disappointed how OKM hasn't answered on questions such as 48:27 whether is it SOJ focus development on own state or is it just coincidence? Additionally, imho the main beneficials from data centre development is the YTL businesses such as power generation & construction (not "AI players"), because it's IT infra businesses. On the software side, doesnt really matter because you can do it from anywhere. Similarly, on the sandbox as a service, or perhaps software development (pilot) - again I am not sure how the proximity to Singapore could be a major factor to attract businesses to move software development activities to Johor. The actual thing matter more is perhaps the availability of software engineers. In this case, put yourself in the angle from software engineers - if I'm working in JB, why not I just move over to the other side where there is a lot of job demand/much higher wage? 😅 Anyway, if you wanna attract software developers here, it's not always about the PPP (although it's huge factor), but perhaps happiness index plays a big part. In Malaysia overall or KL, perhaps we feel more comfortable, better food, larger homes, can drive around, easy access to many places with current public transport, etc.

About points on fast access to Singapore, SG not only cares about people but also good entering SG. Contraband cigarettes, Alcohol and drugs which is why their customs are slow. OKM - how about AuditorGeneral reporting directly to SoJ? It may help improve our procurement processes??
@gan2476 ай бұрын
The Auditor-General’s report is already tabled directly to the parliament. Having the office reporting directly to the Agong would make very little difference. And I don’t see how AG could improve the procurement process. Auditing is a post-mortem of a process/action. It doesn’t control how things are done. It checks if things (accounting, procurement, etc) were properly done/accounted for, and if they weren’t, it finds out what went wrong. If I’m not mistaken the AG’s report also doesn’t give recommendations on how to improve/fix things. It is up to the govt to do the fixing, plug the loopholes, etc., if they wanted to.
@fartofthemutter52986 ай бұрын
Nobody takes the Auditor-General seriously. Year in year out, the AG reports tell us what is wrong with the government machinery. And offenders do not even get a rap on their wrists.
