Amazing woman, amazing cook and a thoughtful host. Love how neat and clean she is working in her kitchen and caring for her pasta board. Love citrus fruit so will try her lemon torta ASAP. Better year to Vicky and all the grannies. Stay healthy and keep teaching us.

@@pastagrannies hello Miss V. Excellent suggestion! In California we have these lemons called Meyer lemons are you familiar with them? For the longest time the only grew California but are now produced other places. They are known for their thin sweet skins an almost no pith. the mildness of the juice as well as a mellow rich skin flavor in part because I’m told they have a hint of orange tree in their mix. But by all consideration still a lemon.. I have a 92-year-old Italian American neighbor who doesn’t really care for desserts but likes anything lemon flavored or with an Italian angle. Last year I made her lemon semifreddo. Which she really loved. This time I think I’m going to make the tortA With a thin pith lemon such as you describe.. I won’t be able to sit side-by-side with her and watch an episode of pasta grannies because of COVID-19 but she’ll be overjoyed I think with the delivery of something made with love that we can share from a distance. Her birthday was yesterday so this is a belated present for her.

When I started traveling in Italy almost 50 years ago, to a foreign palate everything was grotesquely over-salted, especially pasta. I think they began to catch on to the problem, which I haven’t noticed so much the last twenty years or so.

I don't think this is the case, after war many familys were grasping poverty, she is not dressed up 'cause she's cooking, my mother in law also cooks as comfortable as possible, and because we're family she does not need to, maybe with Rina and her friends is the same.
