I love the 1940s music that's going on throughout the boat. It gives some atmosphere. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for the walk through. I’ve only recently begun looking at 50s era diesel subs and i found this very informative! Keep up the great work

Hi, Bob my brother-in-law was one of the engineers of the Mark-50 torpedos. The Mark 50 torpedo is a U.S. Navy advanced lightweight torpedo for use against fast, deep-diving submarines. Happy Thanksgiving, Mike

Amazing, thanks for the walk through, first time seeing the inside of a WWII sub, couldn't believe how long it is

I was on the USS Nautilus SSN 571 so I can appreciate the lack of room. But you adapt easily and move on. I would not trade that experience for anything. I was fortunate to be a submariner. You should tour any of the newer nuclear ballistic subs. Vast amounts of room

What type of wood was the topside deck made of I wonder? looks like a fun day.
@charlesbartholomew2910 Жыл бұрын
The deck would be teak. If the boat suffered and explosion and the teak deck became separated it would not float to surface and expose the boats position.
@manyrounds5468 Жыл бұрын
Must be a very strong dense wood, now I wonder what changed the construction to how they build them now with steel decks and tiles or whatever coating they use.@@charlesbartholomew2910
