This is a really awesome video about a first time competitor’s experience. It’s so interesting to see a new cuber that isn’t a little kid, I was 13 when I started and 15 when I went to my first competition and was still a little kid back then. I’m almost 23 now, have been cubing for 9 and a half years, kinda hit a brick wall as far as improvement goes, but it never gets old for me. I hope you enjoyed your first competition and I hope you decide to keep improving, and even branch out into the different WCA events such as big cubes, megaminx, and more. I’m also looking forward to seeing your speedcubing journey continue on KZbin!

As someone who averages about 11 on the 3x3, your improvement was mental - I took about a week to learn it and after 7 days I wasn’t even under 1:30 😭 Also I wish I had been to competitions earlier (so far I’ve been to 10 and my first one was after half a year of cubing)

I hope you go to another one. After my first I got hooked. Now I'm registered for my 65th and 66th competitions. I didn't learn until college and didn't compete until 10 years after I learned because I had no clue competitions existed.

@@nicholascrow8133each stage shared the same scrambles to make it even no? thats why you can’t talk about the scramble in the waiting room
@nicholascrow813326 күн бұрын
@@AndrewPokornik Apparently yes, each group will get the same scrambles, I'm guessing they get them in a random order. Tbf, I've only entered a couple of comps, never helped out behind the scenes
@AndrewPokornik26 күн бұрын
@@nicholascrow8133 I’m pretty sure each stage gets the exact same conditions and the order isn’t changed, this makes it so that it is a fair competition. Otherwise someone could get lucky while someone else could get unlucky.
@rodrigoqteixeira26 күн бұрын
@@AndrewPokornik everyone in the same group gets the same 5 solves in the same order. Different groups do get different scrambles tho. Once I was scrambling for 2x2 and the whole solution was a single sune. Because of different scrambles, I didn't compete with that scramble, but everyone on that group did, exactly on the 5th solve of the fastest group.

7:10 just a friendly tip: PLEASE don’t touch the cube until you have signed the card… touching the cube is an automatic +2 second penalty. Not everyone follows this rube but if you make it a habit you will always grt +2’s at nationals and continental championsips.. wang yiheng got his 3.27 Wr2 DNF’d cuz he picked up the cube he just solved and started turning it… you really need to watch out fox that
@Nevseros26 күн бұрын
It's not true though, it's prohibited to touch the cube before the judge inspects it, not before you sign.
