I heard that studio company members don't dance with the main company other than the Nutcracker, however for if the company is short on dancers and there doing a piece like Don Quixote or Swan Lake and need people who just react on stage or do core roles on stage do they use the studio company members or do they hire dancers from around the world. As I know that the royal ballet do this for certain pieces that they perform such as La Beyedere

Yes studio company only does the Nutcracker or they can be supers during our Met Season! Usually just apprentices join the company from January onwards!

Thank you so much for your insightful reply. I have a couple of questions related to ABT that I'd love your opinion on. 1. In your experience with ABT, do you consider Takumi Miyake to be the best turner maybe the world has ever seen? 2. Is Yuma Matsura still part of ABT? I know he has been dealing with an injury for sometime

I would say if you are 18 years old and want to be a professional dancer that you should really train and prepare for the next two/ three years and then try to join the junior companies 😊

What is JKO?

It stands for American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School which is a pre-professional ballet training program for students, ages 12-18 😊
