I was there in Yokosuka on and off for 2-1/2 years. Most the time we were in Vietnam in the 60's as the War was happening. But when we did come back for Ship repairs I loved it there. I had no problem as most everywhere we went people spoke English. I am surprised that you say in this day and age that you had problems with people not speaking English.

Not hard at all, they primarily send single, younger guys overseas because it’s easier, but certain rates like spact, you will most likely be overseas, maybe even Japan and if you’re former military, may get more of a say so

hey i got AO . my first sea tour is 53 months. does that mean i’m out on sea for a straight 4 years ?
@jerrylu37405 жыл бұрын
Darius it depends on the duty station your stationed at. Some ships go out onto deployment for a longer period of time and some ships stay in their homeport for their maintenance cycle. Really depends on the ships mission. Just be prepared to go out on deployment for 6-10 months. Its not straight 4 years you get breaks in between for the ship to get worked on for the next deployment cycle.

Not the case at all. I love my family and it was difficult but seriously you have to get out of your comfort zone to know who you really are. I've been places and done things that no adult in their early 20's will probably ever do. Now that I'm out of the Navy and back with my family I can tell them about all my experiences and they are proud 😁
