This run is very instructive for learning defects and difficulty curves in A20. Always prioritize damage for Act 1 elites, boss, and Act 2 hallways (which is why claw engine was picked). Then proceed to scale the deck for endgame (frost orbs shenanigans).

It's always so interesting to me when I see people relic swap on Defect. I love my little lightning orb in each fight, it gets me out of tough situations all the time, and makes double cast a lot better. And if you upgrade zap or double cast, it doesn't seem like you are desperate for that fourth energy in act 1 either.

personally i dont like it as well, since it turns off dual cast as you said. but sometimes the other options are so meh, that i just take it and see how it plays out. can be fun

the lightning orb often stops mattering very quickly. it isn't even all that important against lagavulin and sentries tbh. it does useful things in the first few hallway fights and vs. gremlin nob, but it does a very large amount less than a pandora's box and rapidly stops doing more than a 4th energy, etc.

Oh wow - Hi Jorbs! Wasn't expecting a personal reply. :) I agree that it's not good very deep into the run, but I also feel like that extra damage helps me end fights fast enough to avoid taking lots of damage, especially when I transition to the hard pool of hallway fights. That extra HP can sometimes let me take one more elite! BUT you've got like thousands more hours in the game than I do so I'm likely to trust your judgement anyway. I'm still muddling around in the low-teen-ascensions, so I might come around to your way of thinking by the time I hit 20.
