My wife passed away 6 years ago after giving birth to our daughter. Every night, I read to her while she stares deeply into my eyes and listens intensely. I know that it probably isn't common to relate this song to a father-daughter relationship, but this song makes me miss my wife so much more. It also makes me love and cherish my daughter so, so much. I know that she won't be like this forever, and daddy won't always be her favorite person, and she will eventually get older -- but right now I'm happy, just spending time, passing it by in her arms.

Man this video fucked me up. Currently 79 days sober, but my life was chaotic like this when my drinking got really bad. The song and visuals have me in tears right now. Glad to be sober, but this brought me back to some memories of being in a dark place. Staying in my friends backyard in a shed with beer cans and trash on the floor, doing stupid shit just to feel something, the arguments, fights, the chaos. It was all something I thought I thrived in. Today is completely different. Thank you Joji.

"I think this song is the most heartbreaking when u dont interpret it as someone who hasnt moved on from a past relationship, but instead as "the person im with isnt the person i love anymore cause they have changed, but when i look in their eyes sometimes i still remember the person they used to be, whom i fell in love with. And I hope that one day they can come back to me." " - ZangBang

when you interpret the song this way, when he sings about wondering what it's like from the other person's perspective with their partner (which would be the singer) that could be read as the singer wondering if he himself changed too and I like that.

She'd take the world off my shoulders If it was ever hard to move She'd turn the rain to a rainbow When I was living in the blue Why then, if she is so perfect Do I still wish that it was you? Perfect don't mean that it's working So what can I do? (Ooh) When you're out of sight In my mind 'Cause sometimes I look in her eyes And that's where I find a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinking of the way it was Said I'm fine and said I moved on I'm only here passing time in her arms Hoping I'll find A glimpse of us Tell me he savors your glory Does he laugh the way I did? Is this a part of your story? One that I had never lived Maybe one day you'll feel lonely And in his eyes, you'll get a glimpse Maybe you'll start slipping slowly And find me again When you're out of sight In my mind 'Cause sometimes I look in her eyes And that's where I find a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinking of the way it was Said I'm fine and said I moved on I'm only here passing time in her arms Hoping I'll find A glimpse of us Ooh, ooh-ooh Ooh, ooh-ooh Ooh, ooh, ooh 'Cause sometimes I look in her eyes And that's where I find a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinking of the way it was Said I'm fine and said I moved on I'm only here passing time in her arms Hoping I'll find A glimpse of us

@matthewnelson6103

I can’t even say they’re thugs, sad trash maybe. they remind me of some of the wayward young dudes in my area that hang out together. They don’t have any prospects, seldom employed or in a relationship for long. Broke but somehow there is always an open bottle around. They also somehow have a set of wheels which they use to show up to whatever gathering that’s going on, probably where they stole the booze. Probably burned bridges with their families or are in bad terms so they just hang around with the crew. You can see they’re struggling with demons and they gravitate toward each other to commiserate in their shared shack. together is probably the only way they can survive but also they hold each other down. They can’t afford anything themselves but together can scrounge enough for what they want. They all have problems with the law and at least one is always in jail for something, nothing long term.

@@peteaxe2067 Thanks but its just a phenomena I have seen first hand with people I knew. Like I used to chill with one of the dudes and I'd come over to their place which was always a mess and I got to see the chaos for myself. It was too much for me after awhile as their was always this stressful vibe even though nothing was really going on. They were cool with me but in the background their was alot of angst and pent up frustration that was simmered down by depression and fatigue.

I know the song is amazing but paired with this video, it’s absolutely perfect. For those who are saying the video is too loud or too opposite of the song, you’re missing the point. Depression is a fucked up thing. The outlet of how we choose to deal with it can sometimes be loud and chaotic but in the end, it’s just a front. Thanks Joji for this. This was incredible.

My ex-girlfriend introduced me to Joji 10 months ago, I instantly fell in love with his songs. I remember all those beautiful moments we spent together, those nights listening to Joji in the dark, all the times I heard one of his songs and I instantly thought about her. The day after this song was released she told me to hear it, but I was busy at the moment so I couldn't. We broke up. I think we did 3 weeks ago? I'm not really counting how many time has passed. It doesn't really matter now. Yesterday I was in Spotify with a few friends and I thought about her, and remembered when she told me to listen to this song. And I did for the first time. And it crushed my already broken heart. It's hard not to cry while writing this comment. I miss her. I love her so much. I know I must let her go, but for now I'm gonna sit alone in the dark, suffering in silence. Thank you for reading this. Take care of yourself and please, appreciate what you have because you don't know when you'll lose it.

dont get me wrong, this is a beautifully written song. but if you relate to this whole song, please fully move on before you begin your next serious relationship. its not impossible i promise. in order to genuinely make room for new love in your heart you have to make space by getting rid of that person who currently sits there. otherwise you are wasting the others person time and energy:/ its unfair because the other person could be giving all their love yet they are underappreciated for something they cannot control - its normal to miss what you had. but different isnt bad, its just unfamiliar. to really appreciate that different is to accept what the past has gifted you with, and make genuine room to appreciate new happy experiences. trust me, you guys will be okay. just keep pushing through and keep trying

This was possibly the most depressing song visually from Joji It shows the descent of a man into madness and complete self destruction, notice how the video accelerates, going faster and faster, indicating that when somebody starts falling into the darkness, they keep on falling faster and faster into the abyss and no matter how much hallucinogens or alcohol you consume, no matter how mad you drive yourself, it'll only make you fall faster...

This goes out to the love of my life V... It's been four years, and even after getting over you a part of me does the lyrics to this song... Just hoping and praying to find even a glimpse of the love I felt for you in someone else because I can never have you again so I had to get over you and move on. This song truly touches my soul, and I get it... We all sometimes have to let love go get over someone and look for the next love in our lives. The "glimpse of us" isn't exactly meant to be glimpse of that former person more so glimpse of what you "had" serious relationship wise that is your NEXT serious love. But the retro of this is yeah sometimes even if we're over someone... we do miss them and what we had and that's okay and healthy to remember the good times... and miss them and wish things worked out. I know there's days where something reminds me of V and I do.

Dude… it’s such a struggle to get over somebody who we hoped would stick around until the end of our lives. I know it feels like the end of the world. Trust me, it’s the same feeling we all experience during a tragic break-up. It seems like an easy way out to give up. But trust me, it gets easier as time goes on. Life always gives us these curveballs, and tests our strength. My father ended his life during a hardship he faced when I was 18, leaving me and my momma alone to deal with these struggles. ( I got into stronger drugs to cope with the emptiness of losing my role model / best friend which I shared everything going on in my life with ..But no matter how much I despise his cowardly choice, it made me a stronger person at the end of the day.

[Verse 1] She'd take the world off my shoulders If it was ever hard to move She'd turn the rain to a rainbow When I was livin' in the blue Why then, if she's so perfect Do I still wish that it was you? Perfect don't mean that it's workin' So what can i do? (Ooh) [Pre-Chorus] When you're out of sight in my mind [Chorus] 'Cause sometimes I look in her eyes And that's where I find a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinkin' of the way it was Said, "I'm fine" and said, "I moved on" I'm only here passin' time in her arms Hopin' I'll find a glimpse of us [Verse 2] Tell me he savors your glory Does he laugh the way I did? Is this a part of your story? One that I had never lived Maybe one day you'll feel lonely And in his eyes, you'll get a glimpse Maybe you'll start slippin' slowly and find me again [Pre-Chorus] When you're out of sight in my mind [Chorus] 'Cause sometimes I look in her eyes And that's where I find a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinkin' of the way it was Said, "I'm fine" and said, "I moved on" I'm only here passin' time in her arms Hopin' I'll find a glimpse of us [Bridge] Ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh [Chorus] 'Cause sometimes I look in her eyes And that's where I find a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinkin' of the way it was Said, "I'm fine" and said, "I moved on" I'm only here passin' time in her arms Hopin' I'll find a glimpse of us.

Not really a Joji fan, but I’m surprised almost no one is talking about this music video. It frames the music in this incredibly gritty but authentic feel of someone trying to fill a void that their past lover used to fill; a void that they try to fill by gangbanging and living in a trap house with their equally messed up buds that can’t open up to each other, slowly showing that it obviously isn’t working out by the end. It’s sad and disturbing to watch, but it’s incredibly real.

I interpret this song not as someone who lost a relationship, but a part of themselves. Whenever I hear this song it makes me reminisce of the innocent carefree happy child I used to be (I'm thinking of the way it was) and it makes me sob violently. I wish I could go back to being that person; now I'm always exhausted and my mental health keeps declining. I said I'm fine, said I'll move on with life but I'm only here passing time idly; hoping to find some small moment of happiness, a glimpse of what was.

that was me this beginning of the year. I was so close to giving up, actually I did give up. I was so close to ending it all. I took a much need break from life and everything that came with it. I decided not to interact with anything or anyone. And it didn't get better right away. I laid in bed all day sometimes not even watching anything, just laying there. Then maybe after a month or so, I started leaving my room. I attempted to keep up regular hygiene which is something I only know do somewhat routinely. Then it was introspection and finding what you actually want out of this life. What do you actually want to do that is not influenced by expectations or pressures of others on you. And then its mustering up the courage to take that leap. I essentially change my life course in the latter stage of education. My relatives were concerned with it being so late. And I had to reiterate that IT was MY life and THIS DECISION IS A RISK ON MY FUTURE I WAS WILLING TO TAKE because if I don't take this risk THERE IS NO FUTURE FOR ME. It's hard but I stopped listening to people especially when they think they know what's best and give advice like " you need to start getting your shit together" or "just do it" like I don't know that already. And those who can't possibly fathom that thinking about doing something and actually going through with it are two different things. But after the self turmoil and breaking free from the pressures and expectations I can tell you now I am not necessarily happy but rather content with the choices I have made now. I've managed to rebuild apart of me that I thought was lost in time. The happiness and joys that were prominent in my childhood. I know if you're mind is made there is nothing I can say really and truly to inspire you, but take this from a person who was where you are right now in August 2021 up until the essentially April/may of 2022, that recovery is possible and things you reminisce about are still achievable and still brings the same joy that you felt just maybe in other forms. I used to paint and write a lot but I haven't in years because they don't bring joy anymore. Now I play solitaire on the daily multiple times a day in my living area with a deck of cards I had for ages and the joy I get from wining propels me to move on. Good luck on finding yourself and I really hope you make it past this seemingly never-ending or rather permanent part of your life.

This video reminds me a lot of Joji’s past identity on the internet, a lot of alcohol, physical pain, public shenanigans involving strangers, dangerous shenanigans with some involving cars, messy surroundings, filming them and then the masks, the masks stick out because back then, Joji and his group were all playing characters while the real people were hidden away and not seen by people. And also, in the last part, one of the guys acted a bit strange, almost like he was tired of everything, that reminded me of him, because at the end of that era, he said he began to experience problems that led to the decision to end the whole thing and move on to now with him focusing on music. That’s about it, or at least that’s what I was thinking when I was watching the video, but this is just me, I could be completely wrong and whether that has anything to do with the song is something I need to analyze more.

This is gorgeous. The song and video. The video makes the emotional impact actually hit, idk why people think it's out of place. It encapsulates and grounds you to the reality of the emotional/physical spiral. It is chaotic and mildly disgusting on purpose, shows you flashes of heartbreak and vulnerability within it, and it does it wonderfully. The juxtaposition is jarring, but the emotions displayed in both the song and the video are the same. The video occasionally drowns out the music in the same manner we try to cover our feelings with destructive habits. And as always, no amount of chaos can overwhelm sorrow. To love and be loved. The failure of either. This is awesome. You guys are awesome. Edit: Anything can happen. Tell the people in your life you love them while you have the chance.

Do I still wish that it was you? Perfect don't mean that it's workin' So what can I do? Ooh When you're out of sight In my mind 'Cause sometimes I look in your eyes And that's where I find, a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinkin' of the way it was Said I'm fine and said I moved on I'm only here passin' time in her arms Hopin' I find, a glimpse of us Tell me he savors your glory Does he laugh the way I did? Is this a part of your story? One that I had never lived Maybe one day you'll feel lonely And in his eyes, you'll get a glimpse Maybe you'll start slippin' slowly And find me again When you're out of sight In my mind 'Cause sometimes I look in your eyes And that's where I find, a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinkin' of the way it was Said I'm fine and said I moved on I'm only here passin' time in her arms Hopin' I find, a glimpse of us [Bridge] Ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh 'Cause sometimes I look in your eyes And that's where I find, a glimpse of us And I try to fall for her touch But I'm thinkin' of the way it was Said I'm fine and said I moved on I'm only here passin' time in her arms Hopin' I find, a glimpse of us.

(My Interpretation) Song: The lyrics is about how he isn't truly in love with the person he is with now even though she seems perfect. He is still so strongly attached to the girl he was with before to where everything about the girl he is with now reminds him of her. He also doesn't want to get over her which leads him to stay with his current relationship because it reminds him of his feelings of before. MV: It correlates with the music video by showing us his actions but expressed through a violent group with emotions. They know their actions are wrong but it's what gets them going without actually getting them anywhere. It seems like their actions should keep them happy and fulfilled in life, but it is only a distraction from their past that they still reminisce over. So, they feel stuck because they think there is nowhere else to go but also no way back. It affects the people around them, their loved ones, and ultimately themselves. The affect of the groups choices reflects to the affect of his choices. He believes that he has to stay with this girl because it's the closest thing to his reason of living which was the girl before. Same as these guys continuing their harmful actions because it's the only fulfillment in life. That's all I got for now, im kinda brain dead now

i dont think theres a girl. id like to think the old flawed love he cant quit is his past stripped-back chaotic self/life and this new conventionally ideal love he cant commit to is his new established leveled-out lifestyle but he just cant quite reprogram himself to be content with or enjoy that kind of subtlety. or it all feels too disingenuous. he craves a part of who he used to be, a reckless mentality portrayed in this videos, regardless of how backwards that may be to his personal or career's wellbeing

@@nononoohfuck Nothing in particular happened to Joji, but many fans suspect that his label might be taking advantage of him by forcing him to preform, taking over his social medias, etc. This is just an assumption though: I don't know if those claims are true. There's no facts or evidence to back it up, but I assumed Joji wanted to leave his career behind and focus on just producing because he's mentioned how much he enjoys the process of producing several times in interviews. On top of that, I think he's never really known a life without fame, so I thought that a desire for normalcy was the motivation behind disappearing for 2 years - if that disappearance wasn't a result of his label taking control.

well i think if you watch closely, it's about a guy who is already lost. He can't forget her. He's just engaging in a self-destructive behavior.

To be honest, I feel like you could use some clips to make a new music video to be hype asf, especially all the party and drifting clips

I'm a teenager who can't taste the actual freedom I have family to look back on,my grandpa is paralyzed and there's nobody around for him because the other family members, they also have their own duty to do.I'm the only one who's looking after him.Grandpa is a selfish person,he doesn't even treat me well.Sometimes,I just wanna run away but I can't.I can't even go outside because there must be someone for him.And now,I must dwell in this lonely house until he dies. When I watch this music video,I feel the vibe of freedom I've never felt.Look at the guys in the video doing every crazy stuffs they wanna do.I've been watching this music video everyday for months. Many people say this video is about self destruction and depression but as a person who have never felt the actual freedom in my life,I call this "freedom".

Hey man. You are a Great Person. Trust me, some Day you Look at this Video and smile. You will smile because you are free. Can do whatever you want. Always remember , its just a small Period of time. I lost my mom in April 2023 cause of Brain cancer. I was 20 years old and i was shattered. Thought nothing in this world could help me to get back up. 2 months later i started to Focus on myself and God. Now , one year later im happier then ever. Of course i miss my mom. But i know god has a plan for all of us. And i know he got a plan for you as well. Please don’t give up on you. U are a strong Person and some Day everything is gonna be allright :). Ly G

@@cbproductions1219 don't really have a bone to pick here but someone with 10k views can be objectively "better" than someone with 10 million. Just enjoy it if you do, and use a better argument than views to defend it. I like it, but I wouldn't die on that hill with you dude 😂
