First and foremost, she's pretty agile, but her ornaments aren't as fast as true coloraturas like ella, mariah, beyonce (even to a lesser extent Tori). They can fit way more notes into a vocal line with razor sharp speed and at an extremely articulated precision that sounds as if they're floating effortlessly over the notes. Runs so fast you couldn't even hear all of the notes they fit into the line.. Also, Jojo's runs are pretty dope but a lot of them consist of moving chronologically up and down the scale in the main structure of the melody. Also, you can tell by the places she inflects where she inflects and where most of her coordination lies, which is pretty low and limited for a coloratura tessitura. Most of her melismatic inflection are done between D3-E5 ..which is impressive, but a real coloratura like Beyonce (who mastered her passagio along with Ella and Mariah) has the same ease and coordination and in her lower chest range (B2) extending into her belting peaks F#5/G5 which connects seamlessly to her headvoice extension (to E6) that's 3 full octaves that she has full control to "paint over". all with superb intonation. Jojo has her moments when riffing and she's not on the center of the pitch..This does not happen with true coloraturas..their pitch is their greatest asset. Jojo's staccato and legato control as well as volume manipulation and dynamic expressions aren't as acute or fine tuned as a coloratura would.. With time, focus and dedication, the potential is definitely there!

In all honesty, singers who should rightfully be classified as things like Spinto Mezzo's or Lyric Contralto's are incorrectly made to be Lyric Mezzo's and Dramatic Contralto's. (Having a lyric singing dramatic passages is extremely precarious, might I add). The fach system really needs an update - having the majority on Soprano's is unfair and highly inaccurate towards other voice types. (This is more a problem specifically for Mezzo's and Contralto's, not so much the male voice types). An example of this inequality would be how there's a Dramatic Coloratura Soprano fach, while Mezzo's are just Coloratura's, and Contralto's completely lack a Lyric and Coloratura fach. This is why I am completely open towards addressing singers as how they should, despite the lack of an official category for them. For example, I'm a Spinto Mezzo-Soprano, and have all the characteristics for being a Spinto, although that fach doesn't 'exist' officially.

I'm glad you made this because no one barely make videos like this for JoJo. You picked great clips for her, so don't apologize. JoJo always had a good lower register, but it has gotten stronger with age. Her belts are good, but I think she needs to work on where she places her belts and her mix. I love, love her head voice. I wish she would use it more, especially live.

+MrSkinnyJeanz3 well if she learns to mix her belts just like classical tenors do with 50% chest voice and 50% head voice she could hit atlest a,wonderful G#5 with vibrato. she doesn't to hit such high notes she already gives me chills. High note are notes are not everything, is what you make with what you got. but she would struggle less with her upper belts. I know a bunch of mezzo-soprano with G2, A2 and can mix belt a powerful resonant A5. and mixing is actually the correct tecnic cause is less stress, and pressure for her vocal chords. I just want what's best for this girl with a voice of Dimond!!!!!!! I really hope she gets back on top where she diserves! what she can make me feel with a few words is amazing. her voice is gold! :')

+Javier Perez i think jojo and charice has a very similar voice, although jojo has better techniques. Thats why i think if she learns to mix better, like charice recently (2015), she have some killer sustained G#5 in chesty mixed voice. She even did a sustained A5 and Bb5 note although its in heady mixed register. Not saying its a must, but it would be awesome. And jojo is so good at her lows. Wow

Her belts are consistently resonant up to Eb5/E5 and her support is great up to F5 inconsistently. That F#5 was shouted & her G5s where hella screamed/strained tho but with more practice and voice lessons from her classical vocal coach she'll be supporting F#5s and up in no time 👍🏽

Her low notes and head voice are perfect omg. Her mix just sounds really chesty and strained. I used to love her belting but I think she's still using the same mix from when she was a soprano (or something like that). I hope she fixes it though, even her C5s sound hard. She's got such a nasal voice that sounds really similar to Christina Grimmie but Jojo just has so many skills and textures to her voice and her voice and the higher she goes, the more nasal she sounds but the nasality sorta works?? Her voice is so complex and interesting...

+Cos Mendez jajaja I wish I was a bass or baritone jahaja I'm studying classical music a bachelor on musical education and I'm classified as a liric ligero tenor and my voice is rounded and resonant and big but is light st the same time so I can't go that low :'( jajaja atlest they hsve shown me how to properly place the voice and how to support and use my diaphragm and hsve good breath support. my middle range is strong my lows are ok they kind of suck jajajaj but my high notes are my Forte. jajaja I my highest note as a,tenor is a mixed C6 and I'm also being trained as a counter tenor so my highest note in head voice I hsve warmed up till a G#6. but I want to hsve awesome low notes!!!!!!!!! and I will never hsve them probably :'(

+Javier Perez I'm an untrained baritone and it's miserable. My voice is way too light and my tone isn't very rich. I could get away with it at least if I was a bass or tenor. It's not all bad tho because with a supported heady mix I can reach up to a C6 on a good day and reach F#6's regularly with falsetto. It just doesn't sound good because of my tone and lack of technique 😔

+Cos Mendez be careful with those F#6 in,falsetto cause falsetto is,not healthy is kind of unstable. and if not support all the way you could damage your cords so be careful. there are great tutorial in youtube. some classical master clases are amazing to learn jajaja. I've being perfecting my tecnic in college for 5 years now and still learning a lot and now I can say tecnic is not the most important thing but f you want to sing forever you need to learn tecnic.

I usually try not to comment on your videos because that's actually a lot of work, but there is actually something that needs to be said: most of your subscribers have NO IDEA what they are talking about at all. In every single video of yours, there is someone who is just throwing around terms that they clearly don't know the meaning of.. For example, Coloratura. People tend to think that anyone who does runs is automatically a coloratura regardless of anything else. Your videos are also full of people who think they have an understanding of support and resonance, but think that Ariana has support on F5 or higher. And some of these comments are absolutely laughable because people think they are analysts who can point of incorrect flaws in singers. In short, your videos would be a lot more enjoyable if idiots couldn't find them.

+David Vasquez yeah jejej that's what I meant jajaja her voice always had a darker quality ti it and when she,was younger. she,had a wonderful impressive low range and middle range down to the second octave almost contra alto like and then she had the amazing chest voice that extended all the way up to a,G#5 without mixing and she also had a very agile head voice with and extension up to a E6 I men's her voice was wither going to go lower or go higher as she grew older but she rarely sang after her prime so her voice decided to go down I men's those B2 are amazing and her chest voice is still god she just needs to put the voice more in the body like is kind of nasal from time to time, she needs to support even more her notes and place her voice in the mask and maxilar and into the maxillary resonators of her face. but her voice is,so,amazing!!!!!! I could listen yo her for hour's!
