I think what made this truly an emotional moment was when Lisa Lisa broke into tears, the normally calm and composed Coach and Mentor breaking down into tears like that, makes this scene more powerful.
@BryonYoungblood4 жыл бұрын
I bet it's made worse because she's tried to be strong after losing George and having to go into hiding with her alias after avenging his death, and leaving Joseph behind, but even she had to be able to break down when she saw Caesar, who was like a second son to her after she couldn't be there for Joseph due to her sad circumstances, since she could try to hold it in, but she'd eventually break, and it'd be even worse if she also didn't let it out with Joseph.

For me it starts right when she puts the cigarette in her mouth backwards. For someone as calm and composed as her to be so emotionally affected that she'd make a mistake like that. It adds even more when she reaches for the cigarette after they see the blood, and there isn't one there, and her facade fully collapses and she starts crying. It's the culmination of those little details about her personality that twist the knife just a little bit more and fully show how well directed the scene is.

Of all the deaths in the Jojo universe, this part 2 death is what got me the most. It's not even seeing Ceasar die necessarily, it's the reaction, mourning, grief, and disbelief from Lisa Lisa and Joseph that kill me. They could not accept it, yet inside they knew the truth. Seeing the blood dribble from the rubble made the death all too real and realized.
@notspoileratall5471Ай бұрын
Every FREAKING time I rewatch any Jojo's scene, I inmediately remember why I love this series. It's so iconic, so passionate, so many meaning you can sense in every scene. That phrase from Jojo: "I've never called Ceasar's name since he entered alone, for the fear of being responded by silence", all those details from Lisa Lisa who tries so hard to keep calm and stoic, all that leading to eventually both breaking after the sunlight casually reveals the cross-shaped tomb with blood beneath it. "CEASAAAAAAAR!!!!" _Finally exclaims Jojo, but their cries were only responded by silence._ This is definitely a true masterpiece.

Who knew I would cry countless of times over a fictional character’s death? Everything about this scene - this opera music, Caesar’s final resting place, his blood trickling from under the cross-shaped boulder, the Joestars breaking down, the intricate details that go with capturing the darkness and pain - bihhh I’m a lady and no romance/drama chick flick would evoke this emotion out of me. For how wacky the series is, this particular scene still invokes such strong emotions. The music, their coping, the revelation of Caesar's final resting place, their breakdown... It suddenly turns the characters into the flawed powerless human beings we all are when faced with death. Fantastic execution, without a doubt.

Man… the way Lisa just, slowly realizes that he’s dead, and you see in real time how that realization hits her… fuck bro that’s really powerful I can’t lie

Man, at this point they weren’t doing the little ghost things that they do in future parts, so Joseph and Caesar never got a proper good bye.

So, I've watched Battle Tendency twice. The 2nd being after I finished Golden Wind and rewatched Phantom Blood. I remembered Caesar died, I remember how Caesar died, I rememebr what came after. The first time I watched his death, no tears, none whatsoever. But the 2nd time, when I knew it was coming- dude I cried like a baby.

Legit one of the characters I really liked in jojo was the zeppeli I liked baron zeppeli as a mentor to jojo and teaching him about his experiences from the mask, mario zeppeli had to leave because he also had to learn about the mask and the 3 pillars. Caesar Zeppeli for being a strong companion and being proud of his family. Caesar was a really great character and one of my favorite moments in season 1 was when jojo and caesar first met each other

This is, without a doubt, the saddest scene in the entire series. "Depressing" just doesn't even begin describing it.

Hearing the pain in Joseph's voice is what always sends me into tears, his unbridled scream of anguish followed by the musical flourish is heartbreaking. This scene is one of the most powerful and moving in the series.
The moment that they realize he’s under the cross shaped rubble is the moment when it breaks them and us

It was the fact that they knew Caesar already died, and they were able to hold it in. I was expecting them to also stay strong when they found out Caesar was right there, but when they both broke down and Joseph screamed his name, I just couldn't hold it in either

2:16 - 2:23 When Lisa Lisa quickly turning away from Joseph when he tried to look at her, is so subtle and intentional. It’s so easy to tell that she’s failing to keep her cool. The execution of this entire moment hits so hard. Gotta love David Production for this much attention to detail. A small choice like this made this so much more powerful. Coupled with the Opera playing and slowly ramping up louder and louder, bursting even louder at the reveal of Caesar being under the rock. The only thing I would’ve changed personally, is to drop all the music just to really hammer home the silence Joseph didn’t want to hear. It would put the viewer in his shoes as we’d be experiencing the very silence he didn’t want to hear because it would solidify and confirm the depressing suspicion. Otherwise, this scene is nearly flawless.
