Had settled on buying Marshall Woburn III when I caught your review of the JBL Authentics 500. Was lured by the additional technology of the JBL and ordered it instead. I honestly wasn’t wowed by its looks or sound. Really disliked the control panel that in my opinion clashed with the vintage esthetic. I decided to order the Woburn III to compare side by side. After listening, the JBL was boxed for return within minutes. Looks and sounds much better in my opinion. I run the Woburn with my Google Chromecast Audio (WiFi) through the RCA with an adapter cable. Using Roon, this thing is amazing. I have a respectable vintage system (Sansui 9090DB with KEF 104/2) and a modern Marantz/Rotel/KEF home theater. The Woburn fits right in between to move between the rooms that don’t have a dedicated hifi system. I took it to my work Christmas luncheon last week and everyone was amazed by the sound. I’m guessing I sold a few for Marshall from my little demo. About to order a Tufton to be able to take that amazing Marshall sound on the road with the option of having a battery for true portability. Great reviews! I really enjoy them!

Jbl sounded much better than other marshall speakers in this video, kinda confusing with your feedback. Kinda biased.
@Burnman8326 күн бұрын
It is not biased necessarily. You have to understand that he listens with his own hearing preferences and you compare it with yours, AFTER it went through the speaker, through a microphone, through post processing, through your sound card and its processing and out through your speakers or headphones that have their own weaknesses and strenghts. To say what he says is biased might be right, but you have no way of knowing as what you hear is by no means representative. In general you can say that the Marshalls have a lot flatter curve and thus are not as strong in the base, but have more emphasis on medium where the vocals typically are and the very high tones like symbals of percussion, whereas JBL has a big emphasis on bass and from there a general pretty balanced tone, but lack those very high notes, which you might only realize if you have a speaker right next to it that supports these so you can hear the difference. Best always is obviously if you have both to try and at the same time a much higher end system as I had with my Klipsch floor standing speakers and adequate amplification. As a bottom line: The flat curve of the Marshalls typically is closer to "how the artist intended the music to sound", but the JBL are set up way better for a party kind of setup. Generally, the Marshalls excel in Vocal, Rock or Metal tracks, while the JBLs with their huge bass portfolio have a big advantage in HipHop, Reggae, EDM. None of them is good in everything. If you want that, you will have to invest a lot more money and a lot more space in actual floor standing speakers, or at least into something in the neighbourhood of a KEF stereo pair that will cost you at least 3 times as much as these bad boys ;)

From what I hear, the JBL 300 seems to be the most balanced soundwise, the Marshall's sound is a bit muddy by comparison, specially the Acton and the Stanmore... But it could be my ears. Thanks for this review Danny

300 is a portable speaker, the Klipsch is not. Not the same category. Like comparing a car to a motorcycle. If its just in-house listening (you never move the speaker) the Klipsch is superior...if you wanna take it to the back yard, obviously you cant...you'll need the JBL 300...but i you want to take it even further, the JBL is too big, you'll need something smaller. Please do a review on the Turtle Box Audio and do a comparison on that speaker to. The V2 is better than the V1 i own. The V1 Bluetooth watching KZbin doesn't match the lip movements but the V2 does and has better button layout. But for it's size and weight it's LOUD AF 120db on a 6x9 speaker. Turtle box audio had room for improvement but i keep emailing them to make it BETTER but they don't come out with the next best thing. Just great art work and limited edition to fishing and country music crap I'm not very country for that edition. If i could get a custom edition to my type of MUSIC i would definitely upgrade. For $400 it's really not bad for the turtle box 🐢.

@emalior5000 Жыл бұрын
Obviously the 500. It has a powered subwoofed and almost 3 times more amplifier power. However it's much larger and more expensive. The 200 and 300 are almost identical in drivers and power. So the 200 is probably the best value

Danny you have plenty marshall. What do we expect to JBL review
@BobRooney290 Жыл бұрын
the biggest worry is the sound quality. wifi bandwidth is insanely more than cheezy bluetooth. meaning, the clarity and quality of sound should be significant. this tells me the bottleneck is in the internal speakers being low quality. playing a flac file over wifi, you should hear a HUGE difference in sound quality over bluetooth. if they sound the same, then there's your problem. clearly jbl went the cheap route, and the wifi is likely the version that came out decades ago, likely wifi-g. still, 1300Mbps for WiFi , vs. only 3 Mbps for Bluetooth is quite huge. the fact that you dont hear the difference is worrisome on the quality of the product.

@DannyPops Жыл бұрын
I did do a quick listen to the orange box but it's such a niche product that I didn't put it up. While the orange box sounds great, it "soundscape" isn't as balanced as these - though I suspect it has a better quality speaker system inside - just not the sophisticated Digital signal processing like JBL and Marshall.
