Incredibly moving. This always makes me cry. I can only imagine how deeply sad he must feel, since he lost Eydie not long ago, and they were a devoted couple. She really suffered with cancer at the end and I am glad she is at peace at last. One of the things my mother told my father when she was ready to go is that "part of loving is knowing when to let go." Amen.

The first time I heard this song was when we were walking during my grandfather’s funeral. We were about to send him to his final resting place and what stuck me the most was “I guess you could say that I've been lucky, and I guess you could say it's all because of you” as well as “you'd be there between each line of fame and glory ‘cause your the best thing that ever happened to me. you're the best thing that ever happened to me”. He really is the best thing that happened to me and my family. I consider him as one of the greatest blessing I have ever received in this lifetime. Every time I need him, he’s always there. He’s always there every single time. It’s been 8 months since he died but every time I hear this song, it always makes me tear up. I would trade anything in this world to have him back here by my side so that we’d laugh again and he’d take me back to his favorite restaurant again. Oh, how much I miss my grandpa. 💔 But I know he’s in peace now with our Lord.

I love it that Steve inserted Eydie's name in the last line to show how much he loved her. He is the best male singer. They made a great duo both musically and as a husband and wife. They had their ups and downs but they worked through it and stuck together. You don't see that in the entertainment business. Through the records and cds we have Eydie will live forever. I met Matt in 1969/70 in Mr. Smith's nightclub in Manchester. I was amazed to meet such a star and a great singer. There was only about 50 people in the audience! I was amazed. After the show he came across to my table and he sat down and talked about his life. We had 4 drinks each and then I said goodbye to Matt. I was a 19 year old student and was broke and as I couldn't afford to buy the next round I left. He was such a friendly man and although he'd met Kings, Queen's and Presidents and knew all the very important people he took the time to talk to me. I still miss him. He was and is my hero. Absolutely beautiful song for Eydie from Steve. Eydie had the most beautiful singing voice for a female that I have ever heard during my Era. My Dad's era was Judy Garland and no one can compare with her, although I think Eydie Gorme would. Loved hearing Steve Lawrence, (so handsome) and Eydie Gorme singing together. They were both beautiful people with beautiful voices - they were just such a delightful joy to watch and boy could Eydie hit those high notes and hold them!!!!
