Heath was fine during and after filming, the myth that the role of the joker somehow "changed him" has been widely disputed and debunked by others who were on the set and had direct contact with him. He had a drug problem or the overdose was accidental. That's all it was.

although i agree and cause no one, even batman doesnt know who joker is so its not true to comics from what i see. but its still captures joker completely (so far) its after he becomes "mad" when he becomes bat shit crazy. but here he seems more sane but Mad. hopefully they play into the "one bad day" kinda Logic he had.

Whoever cast Phoenix really gets it. He gives the perfect average-joe-driven-insane vibe. Ledger gave Joker a sort of contradictory, confusing origin, a mystery to the end. Phoenix feels like he's gonna give joker an overdose of realism. Gonna be fun watching a beaten man explode and turn into one of the best villain's I've ever had the the privilege of knowing.

This is the movie. He gets rejected on national television everyone laughs at him. He inspires a bunch of wackos and then books his big show with Deniro. When he walks out to a crowd ready to laugh at him and call him a loser, him and his goons are gonna kill them all on national TV and thus the joker will be born.
