Joker: Folie à Deux Movie Review

Here’s my review of Joker: Folie à Deux is a 2024 American musical psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips from a screenplay he co-wrote with Scott Silver. Loosely based on DC Comics characters, it is the sequel to Joker (2019) and stars Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the titular character, with Lady Gaga joining as his love interest Harley Quinn. Zazie Beetz also reprises her role from the previous film, while Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener join the cast. It is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Joint Effort.

I really wanted to like this movie, because i really liked 1st Joker movie, but i can understand why some people dont like it, but this movie was massive disappointment. Some movies just dont need a sequel. Great review Ross and take care and stay safe 👍.

This is a great review Ross and so constructive :) I agree this film is a major disappointment and an unnecessary film. This sequel contradicts the original. This film was so messy and convoluted and boring, It retreads the first film and Arthur's character motivations are so confusing, that third act my goodness what the hell happened? haha the musical numbers, well some were good but in the context of the movie it was so jarring, I get it it was supposed to be used to enhance the romance of Joker and Harley but yeah the film is a mess cause it doesn't understand what identity it wants, a musical? court drama? romance? Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga are great actors and do a great job and their romantic chemistry is pretty good but the script doesn't help them, especially Harley doesn't have as much development as I would have liked. Brendan Gleeson was pretty good as well. The musical style felt like a gimmick but it was trying too hard to be edgy for a comic book movie but it ended up being a gimmick. The film was way too long and boring as well my gosh its just a drag to sit through. Todd Philips really dropped the ball on this one. Joker: Folie A Deux was just so unnecessary and messy. The irony is of all this is that Arthur wrestles with his identity in this film, it feels like the film was struggling with its own genre and identity. The ending didn't piss me off but what an anti-climax.There are worse films but I really didn't like this one. The first Joker is all you need. Great video Ross your assessment was fantastic.
