About Joker:
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

The joker is the thing that begs the question is someone born evil or is evil created through society. Is someone truly a villain or is it subjective
@haydendutton6916
@haydendutton6916 4 жыл бұрын
Society always created monsters. People are born inherently good. It is what the environment around them and what society does that ends up shaping lives to go down one path or the other. Evil isn’t born, it’s tragically created by failures of the system and for society itself failing to address what’s wrong with the world, to create a better future and a stabler world. Arthur was a good man, broken down by parental abuse, rape, bullying, the health care system failing him, the workforce belittling him and grinding him to dust as they care little for people with disabilities or mental illness and finally the realisation that nobody cares about him at all, due to the failures of various systems he hasn’t been able to ever fit into society and as such is destined to spiral into a path of inevitable homelessness, abandonment and lovelessness. An existence of which leads to only two things, suicide or embracing your demons and becoming a monster. He ended becoming a monster rather than kill himself, which brought him his own peace and happiness at the expense of his very humanity and the good human being that existed before, who wanted to bring joy to the world, who so desperately just wanted to be embraced and loved and accepted. Now he’s gone, he’s dead, only the Joker remains and the Joker is embraced by those who are just as broken and fallen down the path of evil. The saddest part of all is it all could’ve been avoided if society confronted its own demons and embraced change. Even now, this film is demonised for holding various systems accountable for breaking down and destroying people’s lives, that’s why its “dangerous.” In this, Joker has managed to expose the same thing it’s rallying against, the complacency and ignorance of people who care little for reality and what’s happening to those they think are “beneath them.” They consider it dangerous to address mental health, class divide, hate culture, societal inequity, etc. They’re the real joke.

As a professional dancer, this scene is very shocking to me and *not because of his way of dancing, but what he transmits.* When he enters the bathroom, he does not know how to process the feeling of having committed a murder, so he begins to express it through a dance ritual. As the dance goes on, the Joker continues to dance but now in order to eliminate all the guilt he feels for killing those three people, and tries to convince himself that what he did is right. And finally, in one especific moment we can see how unintentionally he ends up accepting evil in his soul and his movements begin to be faster and with confidence. All the feeling of guilt left, his ego rose, and his thirst for revenge is greater. Finally, when he look himself in the mirror, there is no return. His soul was completely poisoned.
@SkyRied1
@SkyRied1 4 жыл бұрын
Evil exists in everybody. His soul wasn't poisoned. The "poison" (if that's how you want to call "evil") existed from the beginning of his conception as human being. The 3 guys from the subway station all they did was to entice the evil already existing within Arthur to rise to the surface. The fact that people fail to recognize or just shrug off their own evil side, that's another story. But make no mistake: Everyone is both good and evil, no matter what they do. How much evil or how much good is in each one of us, depends only on us to decide and choose.

@@SkyRied1 I know what are you trying to say, but maybe you don't understand me. This scene (and the whole movie) was a masterpiece, I almost started crying. I was looking at a mentally ill man who was losing his sanity after murdering 3 people. The saddest part was how he felt completely free in that moment. The release of tension after murder, the freedom inside that tiny bathroom, the loss of sanity but the control over oneself, all so beautifully and ironically contradictory. The amount of emotions this particular scene made me feel shows what a genius Todd Phillips is.

This was truly the beginning of his more “comedic” life. Involving harming people young or old and mocking their pain as amusement and not even caring about the repercussions; and when he shot Murray Arthur was permanently dead and the Joker was left. Has a way of creeping in to your mind. The score, the stunning cinematography, and of course the phenomenal acting of Joaquin Phoenix has a way of pulling one in. I have watched this movie 12 ×. Each time I watch I get sonething different. A different perspective and a different vibe. IMO it truly is a brilliant masterpiece that is certainly oscar worthy on so many levels One that will not come around again. I have come to the conclusion that one of many, many, reasons that I'm obsessed with this movie is because Todd Phillip's made the fictional character extremely real. And then Joaquin made it incredibly believable giving it a human element that we can all relate to. Just my opinion. Obsessed with #Joker

As soon as the boyfriend of his mother laid his hands on this child, the Joker was born. The Joker was always there, trying to impress people, trying to give people a laugh. Something Arthur never experienced in his whole life, you know, the feeling that someone cared. But the people didn't took notice of him and when they did, they made fun of him. Arthur was the lowest low of society. He cared for his mother, didn't eat because he had no money, had never experienced real love, was always alone and had a shitty job, while he took care of his sick mother. For Arthur this was just life, but the Joker inside of him had enough. As soon as he got the gun and accidentally used it on the kids in the train, he felt powerful. Just in a matter of seconds, people who never noticed him, heard him. He learned that with fear and violence, something he had experienced his whole life and something that was so absurd normal for him, he could control others. For him it wasn't crazy, it was just how it always was from the beginning on. Like Carter Burke said: "Every villain is the hero of his own story." And the Joker was the hero for Arthur, someone who finally brought justice into his dark world, someone who finally could hear the music.

I saw Joker: Live in Concert in Brighton a few months ago and it was a surreal experience. First time listening to an orchestra live. The bathroom part was what I was looking forward to the most. With the orchestra playing alongside the movie, it made the whole scene much more intense like you were stuck in that bathroom with him and being forced to watch his slow descent into madness.

I never watched Joker but whenever I hear this I feel some abstract anxiety that no other song or soundtrack has ever made me feel. I'm not saying it's bad, this is just how I feel. If this was supposed to cause a feeling like this, then saying Hildur Guðnadóttir did a great job is a humongous understatement.

The joker movie was one of the most heart breaking and beautiful movies of 2019. Not only did it focus on one mans psyche , it also focuses on the abuse and the frustration of society that one has to face now in this lifetime, it tells a story of Arthur Fleck, a man who seems to be struggling with severe depression, anxiety and a severe psychosis of some sort that we do not truly understand until the movie plays out , we get to know him and his role as the "JOKER" and how he came to be . He was just wanting a happy life and people all his life have either judged him. for this or bullied him for it. I would rate it 10/10. This Ballet was so moving and heart breaking it made my heart ache, to see one man who has been fighting with many complications since he was a young boy slip into darkness such as he has, and how he can't even look himself in the mirror without seeing the beast rise from his slowly dying corpse of a soul.
