Redd Foxx is the greatest joke teller and one liner I ever heard! Pryor was the best at telling stories, but Redd told jokes and gave one lines in his stage act!

I remember hiding my Redd Foxx albums from my Mom when I was teen in the early '60s. They made the greatest albums to take to house parties. Had to play them on low so our parents couldn't hear. I was heartbroken when my Mother confiscated them ~ only later to learn that she played them at parties with her girl friends! He was a man forall ages! Redd was a funny man, funny man ,,, And, not so "blue" as we originally thought.

Redd Foxx's comedy album "Jokes I Can't Tell On Television" on LP was released in 1969. Not from the 1950's. Look on the site Discogs. Redd Foxx's actual smooth crooning real voice. Before those Damn cigarettes damaged his voice permanently. But Redd was still at the prime of his game though at that time. Even during his Sanford & Son days on NBC. So full of Life and talent. Until he didn't take the full responsibility to pay his taxes. I.R.S. don't play. That's what happens? When a person let success goes to their head. No disrespect to the late Mr. Redd Foxx. Everybody makes mistakes in Life. Nobody is perfect. I'll always be a fan of his work. Great man. But lived a rough hard life. Rest in peace to the Original King of Comedy Redd Foxx (1922 - 1991). Way, way, way before Richard Pryor & Eddie Murphy era.

@CarolAHess I totally agree, but I was raised by an artist and i was pretty grounded as a kid she took the time to break things down to me and it really wasn't a big deal, it helped me understand adults and the lies they tell children.LOL There was no way my mother was going to have an album like that with out being honest bout it I'm glad for that. I grow up in a different time then you did so I can see, that way of thinking back then would be different. My mom was very strict, but realistic

@CarolA Hess May be a difference in the times we grew up in, but I didn't mention that I bought the albums on the QT at age 14 (house party age). She wasn't upset about the language, but that I hid them. My Mom was very open as we talked about everything, nothing was off-base. When she confiscated them, she told me that when I could tell her why I hid them, I could have them back. So I told her that I thought she wouldn't like language ~ that opened the door about a time & place for lanuage

@afi hearts I don't know whether you're a male or female, but either way, my Mom was cool, but was a bit strict about us teens acting like ladies & gentleman She used to say that we had all of our life to grow up, & just appreciate our adolescence. I thank her now, as she was right! I loved growing up in the late '50s & '60s! BTW. How I found out about how she used the albums ~ She invited me to one of her for-girls-only parties, then gave the albums back to me!
