in case anyone wants to know how this was done: that's a keyboard for very young learners that lights up the correct key to press. the chicken sees the light and tries to "get" it like a cat would, resulting in lovely piano music.

As a person who’s kept chickens their whole life, I can guarantee they are much more intelligent than most people believe. Studies have shown they can recognise over 100 human faces and even a change of clothes/outfit won’t fool them. They are also incredibly affectionate especially when raised from chicks. It saddens me to see the reputation they get in most media as being “bird brained idiots who do nothing but peck at the ground and lay eggs”.
