The concept of The husband feeding the child to her mother is taken from the famous Meghalaya folklore "Nohkalikai". In this story, the second husband of the woman named "Likai" kills the child of Likai, cuts her into parts and feeds them to Likai. Likai, after knowing this, became mentally very unstable and took her own life by jumping in a waterfall. This waterfall is known as "Nohkalikai", which literally means "The place where Likai dies"

Its surely inspired by " Nohkalika falls" which is situated in Meghalaya near cherrapunji. Ka Likai's second husband cooked his step child and ate with Ka Likai.Later when she found out, Ka likai fell off from a villaige hill which is now a fountain. I liked the legend more than this inspired and fusion of jokhini and ashwathama story.

One part I felt was left out was, the husband cooking. I need not elaborate on what they consumed. That to is loosely borrowed from a local folktale or Hadhu Kotha named Tula aru Teja. That part was the most horrifying of them all.

So basically it was based on a true story.. Kalikai naamki ek ladki thi jiski ek choti beti thi. Unki husband mar chuke the to bacchi ko papa ka pyaar dilane ke liye kalikai ne firse shaadi ki thi. Lekin uski husband ko kalikai ki bacchi ko bilkul pasand ni tha. Kalikai khud kaam karti thi kyuki uski 1st husband mar chuke the to income karne ke liye sirf kalikai hi thi. To saaradin kaam karne ke baad gharpe aake kalikai apni beti ko hi zyada time deti thi jo ki uski 2nd husband ko bilkul acha ni lagta tha. Is waja se unko bohot gussa ata tha. And ye gussa itna zyada bar chuka tha ki ekdin kalikai jab kaam ke liye bahar gayi thi tab apna gussa nikaal ne ke liye 2nd husband ne bacchi ko maarte maarte ekdam maar hi dala. Lekin iske baad bhi gussa reh gaya tha. To unhone bacchi ko kaat kr us meat se khana banaya. Kalikai jab ghar wapas ayi tab dekha ki uske liye uske husband ne khana banaya tha jo ki khane me thoda sa ajib lag rha tha. Shaam ko kalikai ko uski beti ki kaati hui ungli mili ghar ke ek kone me jisse usko pata lag chuka tha ki jo meal usne khaya tha wo uski beti ki hi meat se bana hai. Iske wajase uski mental health kaafi bigar gaya and wo ek waterfall me kud gayi. Then us waterfall ka naam hua "No Kalikai "
