Dolly is a genius - she is one smart lady who I admire. (I would never admit that in public as I am known to be heavy metal fan). I also think her music stands out from other 'country' sounds. you just cant help singing along.

People like her are the REASON I'm proud to be from Tennessee. THIS is what the south is SUPPOSED to be. Kind, accepting, loving, just so open and kind of person that you could knock on their door and say you are struggling (in ANY regard) and would be welcomed with open arms, a hug, and free dinner. THAT'S what the south is. Doesn't matter who the person or group is. They are supposed to be able to show up on your doorstep looking or seeming as freaky, weird, ignorant, wrong, or whatever -- and a TRUE southern person is going to welcome them into their house and give them a good southern cooked meal with lots of hugs and love. THATS what the south is SUPPOSED to be.

@Greg Normal well I'm from Europe so I'm not as familiar with US Country music so I don't pretend to be very knowledgeable about her songs, although I know a few of the bigger hits of course. I like the Coat of many colours, because of what it represents to her and the story it tells about people who don't have much making the best of life. When I said I was a fan of her I was speaking more from appreciation of her work and achievements and character :) so sorry if I misled you there :) but well nobody can deny I think that she has a beautiful voice!

You go Dolly! Many years ago we were within miles of being able to visit Dollywood. But my father in law became very ill with CHF. He was willing to wait 2return home so I could go but I told him no you're more important. That was the last time 7 members of our family, 4 generations, were on a trip together. My husband and father in law have since passed but I'll never regret that decision. I'm now retired with grandchildren of my own. I'll visit there as soon as I can with them in honor of My family.
