pounce and mastermind's acquisition? or even doomfall, live fast, destined//lead, and razaketh's rite seem like good cards driven//dispair seems good with the deathtouch tokens to force the opponent to trade creatures of significant card advantage on both sides. Natures way is cheaper than ambuscade so at socery speed you can get some extra value with the vigilance

Good job on the awesome list. Looking forward for more brawl decklists. Consider including some of the cards spoiled from dominaria for future decks since the format will only become official with its release :)

I think a Scorpion God deck would be more versatile all the while having all the advantages of this one. Dank deck nonetheless.

Hey Jolt, you have any thoughts for creating a brawl deck from one of the new Dominaria legends/planeswalkers?

Guys, I have to say, you don't seem to know how multiplayer games work. I watched the Pirate deck tech yesterday and it was bad in the same way. The way you build your decks, you'll run out of gas fast and then stay harmless, because you have no means of catching up again. Since in G/B you don't get too much reliable card draw, you would need cards like Journey to Eternity or other forms of reliable graveyard recursion, like Jungle Creeper (what a nice target for your -1/-1 counters, eh?). There are spells like Recover, or Grim Captain's Call, the latter enabling you to put in some effective pieces of selected tribes and reuse them after you -1-ed them to the grave. The artifacts are completely off-theme. They aren't bad as such, but they also don't deliver any synergy to your deck's strategy, which is: keep the board as clean as possible and attack with the small stuff. Ravenous Chupacabra would do that. As would more of the fights-target-creature effects, or more spot-removal in general. Going for multiples of the same type of card is generally a good idea for singleton decks. Two especially bad cards in this list: Ammit eternal. Good card for a 1v1 deck with that theme, in multiplayer chances are that you won't ever get to attack with it because it's dead by the time it's your turn again. The other one is Sword Point diplomacy, which sucks especially hard in multiplayer. The opponents get to choose between them who pays the life for which card! Grave Digger and Wander in Death are both technically better in a deck that reliably gets to kill its own creatures.

These Brawl deck techs I'm making aren't geared towards multiplayer, they're made with 1v1 in mind first. I love a singleton format in 1v1, it makes for some really fun MTG. Most of my lists will need to be adjusted for a multiplayer setting. -Jolt

Here's the problem with brawl. I don't want to stop using my cards. That is all. As a casual player there is absolutely no reason for me to play Brawl over EDH. So... Yeah. Not worth getting into for me.

If you're a newer player and you don't know the full scope of MTG, Brawl is a great way for you to get use out of your Standard cards without having to actually build Standard. It helps keep Standard format cards fun and casual for everyone, and I think that's a great thing.

So if its meant to be a launching point for new players, how does this have lasting value for someone like myself? What happens to those players when they grow their collection? Will they not just move on to commander, Standard or Modern? I see a rocky foundation for it already. As the format can only maintain itself with brand new players who will eventually want something deeper. It doesn't have lasting value to someone like myself. I considered what I'd do to build a deck but than remember that I don't enjoy a good 95% of cards in standard, probably more than that. There is a very small handful of cards I actually like and only use other's for limited purposes but have no interest in those cards outside of limited. For example, Adanto Vanguard was a fantastic card for me in limited, but I have no interest in using it outside of that. And likely I'd have to use it if I wanted to build a vampire deck, which for me would be using it not because I want to but because I have no other options. When you have a pool of the same number of limited cards but can use play sets its more interesting. Now the card selection is higher possibilities but at the same time the slots are more limited. Which breeds creativity. Likely with this format it will be "These are the best 60 cards for X deck and these are the best 60 cards for Y deck". Which is a problem we see now in standard but this problem is only exacerbated when you increase the number of required slots to fill but don't increase the card pool. I'm not going to tell people not to play brawl. Have at it, enjoy yourself. But I don't see it lasting in its current form. I'm not going to invest time and money into it. I get very busy at times and have to put down the game months at a time. And having my decks become obsolete just isn't worth the time or energy that goes into deck building for me.

Then it isn't meant for you. Keep playing EDH. I know I plan on playing it instead of EDH. I simply don't have as much income to spend it on good standard or good edh decks. I play with a slightly upgraded Edgar Markov deck then I either get focused or just 3 turn combo'd. This format lets me play a standard constructed format that will be a world cheaper than EDH. Will I still play EDH yes of course. I have a feeling once rotation comes wotc might tune sets to have cards good in brawl and standard instead of just being trash rares that are in jank brews. Maybe I'm an optimist but that is my take on it.
@DemonOfMyMind

A good Brawl deck could cost you quite a bit. Perhaps over $100. Which is were most my EDH decks sit around right now. And they do rather well. So I don't see its price being much different. What I do see is rather than getting one or two cards to upgrade a deck you will eventually need to replace almost the entire deck every couple of years. Which I'm not a fan of.

Maybe it is just how I enjoy playing magic. I'd rather see a fresh format every year or two. EDH is great don't get me wrong but I'd spend $100 to get even a year and a half of enjoyment out of. Personally I also like the idea that I can go play draft and potentially get cards good for brawl. I think we just enjoy the game for different reasons. I hope it stays as a format that people enjoy as a way to ease into commander with off the shelf product.
