I'd argue that RIonya is the strongest monored commander. She can be so incredibly brutal.

When countering the extra mama, I think that holding the counterspell for the actual payoff spell probably would have worked better

I play rionya and having your ritual countered can be brutal, they are unlikely to cast any big payoffs with that boardstate so putting them off mana to cast their cantrips feels right to me
