Bjorn you are such a special and magnificent man. Your videos help validate our people and heritage. It confirms what many of us feel - all over the world. It’s your heart - your sharing - passion for “Gaia” - for shining a bright light on things beautiful and tragic. Than you my brother- you are one of the great ones.

How I miss and long to my forests in Poland. My heart is crying to see deers in the morning mist, to smell a bark on a pine tree, to taste a water from a spring. I am already dead without my land.

Exactly what I would have gone to see had I visited; the history, the historical detail and accuracy, the forest and the Baltic Sea. Restaurants and the night life can't in a million years give you the same sense of a place nor its feeling of timelessness.

History is so fascinating. We can see the remnants of the past. We can experience the restorations of the homes and shops. We can imagine what it is like to live the way people in the pasted did. The one thing you can be assured of those of the past were people just like you and i are today. They had families, and their homes had the warmth of parents and children and maybe even pets. Though they worked differently, and may be could not read or write. Some could. But the artisans and the apprentices would learn complicated things. Many complicated things. Life depended on having many many skills. I hope your book tour is going well. Enjoy every where you go. thanks for sharing J..

Amazing video, thank you, Bjørn! The tour guide was very gracious, understanding and patient while you filmed all the details in Wolin - big props to them. I appreciate your attention to the history, the scenery, the animals and the trees. Interesting that the raven should watch over you while you were near the barrows. I love the footage at the end of your video, to see you standing there on the edge of the Baltic sea, with the forest behind you. Is it the modern age, the Viking age, or even before history? Though the clothes, and the equipment, may differ, it is simply a man and the sea - and the basics are all the same. The same wind, the same salt in the air, the same scents of the pine forest. Wonderful, like a universal truth about man and nature.

Thank you for taking us to Wolin, I want to go there some day, preferably when they got the big gathering and battles but only watching from a safe distance, it can get a bit rough apparently. I think I do the same as you whenever I am in a historical place, I try to find some quiet and just “feel” the place, how it was, look at the landscape, get the “aroma”. I probably look like a “special” person who has lost his group. 😁 Anyway, I hope I find your latest book under the Christmas tree on the 24. God Jul!

Thanks again for great content Bjorn ! Wolin is one of the lands of my ancestors (I have many photos of their home and church in Wolin etcetc). My family are mixed blood of Slavic, Teutonic and Baltic and more recently Celtic/Welsh (Watkins) from my Mothers father since being in Australia. I have spent just over four years trying to trace my ancestry and so far revealed that my family tree emanate from the Baltic area Eastern Pomerania, Old Prussia and Götaland .. It's been rather difficult tracing ancestry due to the Baltics horrible history of violent power struggles. Very important advice for European diaspora trying to trace family/ancestry in the Baltic area ... ALWAYS start your enquiry using searches for the Kingdom of Prussia because it is very likely that if you've lost them completely then your family were likely NEVER defined as German, Polish or Lithuanian and perhaps like my family only ever consider themselves ""Prussian"" or Wendish. In my families case ""Pomeranian Prussian"" and left in the Wendish migration of the 1800s.

In an eerie way interesting to see this reconstruction of an old norse village with the back drop of a modern city in the background. The village was beautiful, very well constructed.

It's not a Norse village. It's Slavic. To be a viking was an occupation, not an ethnicity. There are some similarities between Norsemen and Slavs but clothing, textiles, weapons, fighting style, cusine, religion and architecture differed. :)

I can't believe I found this video Bjorn. I Live in the village on the oposite side of the bay (Zalew Szczecinski) where the Wolin Island is situated. Those places and forest you showed in this video look so familiar to me. Every time I walk in the forest and look at the Zalew Szczecinski Bay from the clifs, and especially when I see some boat passing by, thoughts about Vikings and ancient times come to my mind. I have this strange feelings when I realize that Viking and/or Slavs used to walk the same paths. Seriously. I Iam happy that you enjoyed trip to Wolin. Greetings from Poland.

... and so unique, such a grand division of leaf and coniferous. Have you had a chance to look at the illustrated edition of 'The Hidden Life of Trees'? It is lovely. Just came upon that book a while ago. Such beautiful drone footage and music, you shared. Humbly, I say, I think the travelling is so 'very' worth it. 🌷 There is something about 'being' in a place. I've felt it quite strongly upon returning to my homeland. The Baltic sea ... yes, the hub of our Ancestors. :-) ... the main street of the town, so to speak.

Wollin was neat, but the comments you made when you were walking along the strand on the Baltic resonated with me. I feel the same way when I visit Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. I just watch a video by a German guitarist I subscribe to (Van Vailia aka Böse Fuchs) that she did on the shores of the Baltic (Ostsee), and I get that same feeling just looking out onto it. I read that germanic peoples are a mixture of farmers from Anatolia, hunter gatherers and people from the Pontic steppes. In Mecklenburg Vorpommern, during a few days in the bronze age period, their was a battle between two groups. One with stone weapons and one with bronze weapons. Skeletons were found in a river with skulls with holes in it.

Was that woods farmed in the past? Loved that beach area. Almost reminds me of some areas in New England. Very nice excursion and a beautiful world we have.

A Freshwater Sea is down the end of my street. Lake Superior. On the north shore ( Thunder Bay) It, too, has a storied past. You need to visit boreal forest areas of Canada.

Love the forest but that village is way to cool ! That helmet may not be Norse but it does not mean they would not have it trade , captures, but none the less very cool video. Wish I could live there lol

That's a Slavic style helmet. It was a place where people of different cultures lived side by side.

@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen yes I figured. Many Germanic tribes took or traded from other cultures. I love your channel there are only a couple of channels I enjoy and yours is one of them.
