In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

I did a similar project on the exact same boat (14' alumacraft) except mine had a 9.9 hp motor. With mine I just added a plywood deck covered in carpet with chair mounts. No frame and no compartments. It was made to be removable. It made the boat heavy and sluggish. I ended up pulling it out. One of the nice things about a jon boat is the light weight. I think you'll need a bigger boat and motor if you add 200 pounds of wood to the front of the boat.

The front deck is such a tight fit that it sits under the lip of the boat and doesn’t move, the back deck frame is screwed into the transom and the deck is screwed to the deck frame, and I have a funnel with a long tube that reaches the gas tank, and yes, if I knew better I would of added it to this build but definitely going on the next build

Just curious man, why didn’t you just hook your garmin to the cranking battery? That way it can charge via the noco.. maybe didn’t want extra wires rigged through the middle and visible? When I seen that part in the initial build video i was curious
@AdamRyanA3 жыл бұрын
Both batteries are charged through the noco, I have them both hooked up to it, it’s a duel battery charger
@kylemurray70863 жыл бұрын
@@AdamRyanA Oh it looked like you had a small lithium battery in the compartment directly underneath the fish finder? The one that you mounted with a strap.. I see your charger and your cranking and trolling batteries all hooked up but what was that other little battery for them?
@AdamRyanA3 жыл бұрын
Oh sorry I read that wrong, thought you were talking about the trolling motor, but you are correct, I have the fish finder on its own battery just so the fish finder and trolling motor last longer and to not cause any interference on the fish finder

@@AdamRyanA So do you just remove it to charge it up then? I did virtually the same thing to a john boat in the 70's. It was a little bigger and deeper than normal because it had been designed for the La.Wildlife and Fisheries so they could sample traps nets etc. so upon becoming the owner I actually made my deck platforms because the back bench was only a half seat. The best part was that it had a 48" bottom and nearly 2' deep. Had an old chrysler outboard which never faltered but I did replace it with a new 50 Merc. Yours looks good and I enjoyed your build. I smiled at it because it brought back some very fond memories of nearly 50 years ago. I put bass seat pedestals on mine but yours looks better; I did mine in blue. Used her nearly 10 years before I bought a store bought model.

An awesome build. I watched all the videos up to this point. However, I do have questions that I asked in a couple of your videos. 1. Why isn't the bilge pump on the switch panel? Found it. you moved the battery and hooked it up. 2. Why isn't the fish finder on the switch panel? Now you have an extra battery to worry about. 3. Wiring. If I'm reading you correctly. The main wire from the battery goes to the fuse box. Only one hot wire and ground goes to the switch box. The light wires (red) goes to the switch box and all the black wires from the lights go to the fuse box. Do I have that correct? 4. I figured out the kill switch and where that goes.

The military term is OD Green for the paint. My boat was painted the same color by the previous owner and his reasoning was because the color blends in well with most waters and especially in our area where the lakes are mud bottom and turn green very quickly as the water warms up. I like the idea of the strap handles you did vs just drilling a hole in the lid for your finger. I thought about that but then realized how much crap would get inside the storage area then.
