On Episode 343 of Spittin’ Chiclets the guys are joined by Stanley Cup winning coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Jon Cooper. Coop joined (00:35:27) to talk about his crazy rise from lawyer to one of the top coaches in the NHL, the Lightning’s playoff run, winning back to back Cups and a ton more. The boys also give their own recap of Game 5 and put a bow on the season. The fellas also discuss some NHL news, including Duncan Keith being traded to Edmonton. The guys wrap up talking a little golf and with some movie/TV talk.

I remember watching him in postgame press conference in 2014 or 2015…and was immediately curious about him… He appeared mindful when answering questions and had that hint of charisma with a good sense of humor. I started reading up on him….and while am long-standing Flyer’s fan-have followed Tampa closely since that time frame. Was so happy he broke through with his first cup win last year and gratified he has coached the team to a second one since they have been consistent overall since their original Stanley cup appearance against the Blackhawks. I love it when a personable seemingly very genuine person and for my own ego since I truly liked him within a few minutes and adopted Tampa as a second team to follow.

@@TheJerseyNinja That was Cooper's second season. As for most of the young core (TJ, Kuch, Palat, ect), they didn't have a postseason win in their NHL career prior to 2015. I'd say "original" fits pretty well all things considered. Hell, even Vasy was given a baptism by fire in the Cup Final.

I'm not sure if it's a testament to their greatness or indication of an era when the interest of tennis is down and the greatest talents just choose other sports to compete in. And for the first time ever since two Giant Asterisks will be next to the years 19-20 20-21 on The cup.. they played a total of like 1 refused season before wining those two sure they played playoffs but there is something much more difficult running 2 82 game seasons to the cup.. Pittsburgh if recent years sis still.the much much better team IMO
