Feeling a bit emotional listening to this... Jon was by far the greatest of his time.. Greatest performer and the greatest fella.... Deeply deeply miss him... The Cabra boy who made it to the top..... Admire Jon forever.

I met him about 10yrs ago when he did the Rock Show tour. At the end, he promoted all the young guys playing with him, how good they were and how great it was working with them. He went out into the foyer and was signing and chatting, I bought a few beers and handed him one and my father in law and I stood there, joking and laughing with Jon drinking a beer. I asked if he’d sign a CD and when I went to spell my name, he says ‘oh I know that one, it’s the same as my sons’. It never really registers sometimes when it’s happening, but you sit back and think later on, bugger me, I was drinking a beer and shooting the shit with one of Australia’s greatest performers.

No matter what he sang it was better or never bettered by the original performer. I still regard his performance, whatever it was as among the best! Loved from the 70's till now. RIP Legend.

@@trevorcoppock5621 dead set nice guy, me and the old man saw him play locally and he hung around after, spoke to everyone who was there, signed everything, and I ordered some beers and handed him one and he was chatting and saying how good his backing band was, and what bands they’re normally in, and honestly talked himself down. It was almost surreal sitting beside him drinking a beer and shooting the shit, looking back now.

@@thesausage351 Yes, that's sounds just like him. I met him through a friend of mine then in the music industry. Very genuine and not a bad Gilbert and Sullivan performer too.

@@trevorcoppock5621 Yeah, he was a true gent. I asked him to sign my CD and did the usual and started to spell it, he said no it’s ok this time, I have a son with the same name lol. He was much taller than I thought, too. I’m 6 foot and he was over me.

@thesausage3513 жыл бұрын
I prefer Metallica’s version to Segers, Hetfields gravelly voice suits it much better than Segers, but I think Jon does an amazing job as well, especially live, he kills it.
