Just watched the finale of #Animal Kingdom. 😭 My Craig died😭. Pope had it bad all his life because of Smurf. I was glad that Jay got his feelings hurt. What could Craig and Darrin do for Jay's mother? Pope was messed up. What did Jay do for his half sister by Baz? So when they go to do the inspection of the fire. They will check that glass that she was drinking out of and find out that Jay killed her. Now Jay is out of the country and he will be wanted for murder. He found out that he is the same as his uncles. Killers. I came on here for this song. I really like it.

I think the song is about God. The words “beyond the sea” reminds me of the Narnia term for God, “The Emperor Beyond the Sea.” In the Bible, the sea always refers to the chaotic world of humanity, and by referring to God as the Ocean, Jon tells us that God is where we come from and where we will end up. God is out of reach of humankind in general, but esp. the tyrant, the sirens, the towers we make, but he can be reached by those who are shipwrecked, those who grieve, and they will be like the songbird who’s been released. God’s whisper is powerful, as soft as iron and thunder, as safe as lions, as cold as fire. I think this song is really fitting as the opening track, showing us that amid the chaos and sadness that humanity goes through (explored by the rest of the album), there is a God who is more powerful than all of them and cannot be overcome by these things.
